Hi Caren!

This is how I make my cakes. They are very light and fluffy! You just take 1 box of cake mix, then add 10-11 oz. Diet cola. Bake as directed on the box. Just make sure the cake is completely cool before you try to cut it, or it is just too soft and will just fall apart! (I know because I couldn't wait. LOL!) I've also used Club Soda with strawberry cake mix before and it was good too. My favorite is the chocolate though. :)

Has anyone heard of adding Diet Coke or Pepsi to chocolate cake mix

instead of oil and eggs? My daughter's English teacher shared this

tip in class, and I wondered if anyone has done this... I guess you

can add Diet Sprite or 7-up to light colored cakes too.

I'm not sure of the exact measurements, but someone at my WW meeting

said whatever the oil and eggs measure up to, you add that same

amount in diet pop as a replacement. Anyone out there baked a cake

this way, and if so, how was it?

Caren,

I have an aunt who adds 7-up to cake mixes instead of WATER (she

still used the eggs and oil) She says it makes the cake

more " fluffy " But other than that I've never heard of it...

You just figure the points from the side of the cake box (dry mix). I want to say it's usually around 3 points for 1/12th of the cake, but you really should figure them from the cake mix you are using because they can be different. The diet cola and club soda don't add any points. I usually make cupcakes when I make the chocolate. :)

-Thanks Aimee....like , I didnt know the points either. Thats

not bad at all, especially if you did make cupcakes, 'cause usually

you can get 24 or so out of one box of mix. So that would be 1.5

points per cupcake. I also know we have a choc frosting recipe

somewhere on the files(100 recipe?) that is 10 points for the whole

batch!! I thought tho that I would make a choc cake with diet cherry

coke, then top with light cherry pie filling for a black forest cake,

and maybe a dollop of lite cool whip. I think if I could have dessert

every day(low point of course), it would help me stay on points

better

because I could look forward to a treat at the end of each day, and

maybe I wouldnt be so tempted to blow points during the day!

I got that recipe from Betsy B. and I tried it. I used the vanilla cake mix

and Diet sprite. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO moist and good!

That's my way of thinking Caren! I try to have dessert every night. It's almost like the day isn't complete without it. LOL! Cherry cola with chocolate cake mix sounds really good! :)
