Mike - I've had a couple doctors tell me to only use Dove soap

in the shower. I do use Dove, but have also found some other nice

(expensive unfortunatally) soaps that are OK with my skin. My Sis

made me satin pillow cases which have helped so much. I've also had

to start buying the real expensive extra soft linens for my bed. I

rinse my clothes 3 times after they are washed twice. The first wash

doesn't matter, but the 2nd wash is always with Dreft (hard to find

sometimes).

If I don't do all this then I have all sorts of nasty skin problems.

Right now it is my face that I can't get cleared up. Sometimes out

of total desperation I use a little Prednisone cream. It thins the

skin, so I don't want to use it - but it really helps.

You mentioned a medication you use for your skin. What is it???

I see my DR next week and would love to get a prescription for it.

The only other thing I do that I'd like to share with you is my

treatment for oral lesions (major ouch!). I rinse with warm salt

water, and when they are really bad I rinse once a day with diluted

hydrogen peroxide (tastes awful). I have a prescription for Lidocain

Viscous which works well for the pain. It is a thick clear liquid.

I use a cotton swab to apply it. The Lidocain is the same type of

medication dentistis use before they drill teeth.

I would appreciate ANY suggestion you can offer.

a, My lesions sting and hurt with just warm water, and I'm talking

lukewarm,

here. Don't even have to use soap for them to hurt. However, once I am out

of the

shower, I immediately use some warmed up bag balm (used for cow's teats) on my

skin, and that really helps. I don't use it cold, because it is stiff like

Vaseline gets,

and hurts to apply. Warmed up a little, it softens and goes on easier. It

is kind of

thick, but gentle rubbing gets it into the skin. This helps heal any raw

places and

has an anasthetic effect on the pain. (It keeps cows from kicking the

milking

machines and creating havoc when they are having sore teats.) My great uncle

used to

use it for everything. LOL

I use cooled off boiled tea bags on sores in my mouth. For some reason

unknown to

me it works for me. Use it on the kid's cold sores, too.

I use SARNA lotion to cool any itching, but I don't get much of that any

more. Just

pain. , I think, has an article on skin problems and mouth rinses,

etc. at the

itzarion website. I seem to remember through the brain fog that I read that

at some

point. It may help you, too.

My current favorite soap is Sonoma Soap's Pure Honey, come's in this neat little honey comb shape and it's smooth as silk. They Kiss My Face Olive & Aloe is smooth, but doesn't feel as soothing. I've had tons better luck with the Natural brands, we order through a natural foods coop http://www.northeastcoop.com is their link, they might have something in your area. I also use a mouthwash and toothpaste from them that is tops on mouth ulcers. It's Glycerin based with herbs in it and the toothpowder is just peroxide, backing soda, and salt, no harsh chemicals or dies to bother me.

I just read something either about Lupus or Fibromyalgia and cracking

cuticles. It was probably about Lupus. I've had the same problem

for years, especially when I had to wear hospital gloves and wash my

hands a million times a day with aneseptic soap. This is what I do,

and IT WORKS. I use Bag Balm - the one I buy comes in a green metal

tin. Origionally (and still) it was used on cows udders to keep them

from getting sore when nursing calves or being milked.

I have some light cotton gloves (used for this purpose) that I wear

at night when I need to. I use the bag balm as a lotion. It is

really oily so I put it on thick and then wear the gloves to bed.

When my cuticles are split, I dunk my finger into the bag balm and

really glob it on thick. Then I take a couple of bandaides or a

fingertip bandaid and cover the bag balm. Within a couple days my

finger(s), hands are so much better.

You know what works great on Sunburn and skin iritations? Horseman's Dream

cream. I've got a jar for Star and I find myself using it whenever I have

major irritation. It's Aloe and all these Vitamins. It's creamy and cool

going on. Cheaper than human products too. For those of y'all with super

sensitive skin and fungus problems or dandruf problems Micro Tek animal

shampoo is great, at $30.00 a bottle it better be, but it's worth every

penny!

Sounds like maybe the heat is bringing them out? Maybe? That is weird. And you can't go without taking a shower. I'm sure the boys would protest after a week or so! Worth mentioning to the dr though.

We are going to my brothers tomorrow. He always has everyone up for Memorial Day. He has one of those cookers that you cook turkeys in and any chance he gets to cook turkey he does! They called me in for overtime last night. Which was okay. I had to sit at the hospital with one of the clients. Overtime for sitting and reading a book and watching tv. Sure can't complain about that! I took a book and a puzzle book and the time went by fast. Definitly easy money.

4 days with no boys! Let me know how it feels! Maybe some day I can say that too! Adam is suppose to go camping this weekend but the weather is crappy today so I don't know if he is or not.

Hi, Brat, Well, what can I say? I get four days to myself and God sends us

a good

sized earthquake. I'm not kidding, either. About 1 a.m. there was this loud

explosion,

rocking and rolling for about 30 seconds, and then I got hit with a hundred

pound,

antique bevelled mirror that was bolted to the wall and resting its bottom on

top of

the highboy dresser next to my bed. Luckily it just grazed my elbow (which

was under the quilt) as it came down, but it shattered into a hundred

splintered shards about two feet long, and very sharp. I'm really lucky that it

didn't

kill me! I didn't

even get one cut, just a slight bruising on my elbow. That mirror was my

parents',

and matched the mahogany high boy. I was up until after 5 a.m. cleaning up

the

broken glass and checking out the house for other problems, and things that

might

come down in any after shocks we might have. Good thing I removed

everything then,

'cause we had two after shocks later in the wee small hours.

I finally got to bed about 5:30 this morning, and slept until 1 this

afternoon. Still

tired out, but basically unhurt. The quake measured 4.3 on the Richter

Scale, and

was centered about a quarter of a mile from my house. VERY lucky it wasn't

any

stronger, or our house would have shifted off its foundation like the one

back in '69.

There is a fault, the Rodgers Creek Fault which runs right under the cemetery

on the

little hill behind us, and that is the one that went in '69, too. But, that

quake was

a 5.2 magnitude, so that was about 90 times stronger than last night's. Last

night's

will do for me, LOL.

So, other than that, I am doing ok. Just still a little shaky. With the

boys away,

though, it was easier to deal with things. When something happens like that

and they

are home, I spend most of the time comforting them.

Gotta go and take a nap. Want to catch up on my rest before they come home

tomorrow, and the chimney service has to come to check and see if the chimney

moved away from the house at all, and can still be used. More later. Love, MM

of 's Laws. Either that, or God is truly merciful and doesn't want us

to get so

frightened we can't stand it. LOL I've lived through worse quakes, but

never had any

damage come so close to hurting me, before. Very frightening. I did what

any scared

little kid would do, pulled that quilt up over my face so if the windows

went, my

face wouldn't be cut up. That's why the mirror just grazed my elbow. The

quilt

was on its way up when the mirror was on its way down, and it sort of slid

down the

quilt before hitting the floor and shattering. That's how my elbow got

bruised, but

nothing else was hurt on my body. Very lucky I am such a coward. LOL

Carol, Yup, I am fine. Got all the glass and junk cleaned up, slept for six

hours, then

called the kids (who are visiting out of town), and went to the grocery store

to get

me something special for dinner. LOL I decided I deserved a treat, since we

have at

least three meatless meals every week, I got myself a steak and stuff for a

BIG

salad and pigged out. Sure did taste good. Hope I don't regret it tomorrow.

Glad you are okay. I was in Sausalito once when a 5.6 hit 40 miles away. I

couldn't believe that we heard a boom and felt like we had been hit (we were

at a hotel on the bay) I had been in minor quakes in southern Cal. and even

one here in Chicago, but never one that you could here. It is scary.

Jeanette, That wasn't in '69 by any chance, was it? Don't want to insult

you about

your age, since I don't know your age, but we are about 40 miles north of

there, and

in '69 we had a 5.6 at about 9 p.m. then another 5.8 at about 5 a.m. Very

scary. The

first one was a great big bang then rolling, like last night, only much

stronger. If

you were in Sausalito for that one, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

:Hi, Brat. Well, the lesions redden and fade as the exposure to sunlight or

UV rays

varies. The topical given to me by all the so-called skin " experts " just

make me raw,

so I've gone to using a steroid cream and then a moisturizer to cut down on

the peeling. That seems to help with that part, at least. The anithistamine

isn't doing

much for it, but sure is helping my allergies to pollens and cat dander. LOL

On the plus side, I upped the ante on my iron pills and that is helping with

fatigue,

too. I'm not sure about the thyroid, yet, but the iron is a definite plus.

I think part

of my trouble was that I was still anemic and the original Iron amount wasn't

enough.

We'll see. BUT, I did get six loads of wash done between yesterday and

today, all but

one folded, and cleaned the kitchen today, too. Even made my bed! Now,

THAT's true

progress. LOL

Going now to take Randy to spend his birthday bucks. Money sure burns a hole

in his

a B. These lesions are not on my face. I usually just get the malar

rash on my

face and it fades away after several hours or a day. The lesions I have are

elsewhere

on my body, and I use the steroid cream once a day, follow up every hour or

two with

moisturizers to keep it from peeling. Not so raw or thin that way. You

aren't out of

You've got more done that me! I've got 1 load of wash dried, and it's still in the dryer! Guess that's what I should be doing instead of sitting here! But, I don't feel like it!

Did Randy get his birthday bucks spent? Sounds like . If you don't spend it within 24 hours, it's not any good! His birthday is this coming saturday. My baby will be 20!

The topical given to me by all the so-called skin "experts" just make me raw,so I've gone to using a steroid cream and then a moisturizer to cut down on the peeling. That seems to help with that part, at least. The anithistamine isn't doing much for it, but sure is helping my allergies to pollens and cat dander. LOLOn the plus side, I upped the ante on my iron pills and that is helping with fatigue,too. I'm not sure about the thyroid, yet, but the iron is a definite plus. I think partof my trouble was that I was still anemic and the original Iron amount wasn't enough.We'll see. BUT, I did get six loads of wash done between yesterday and today, all butone folded, and cleaned the kitchen today, too. Even made my bed! Now, THAT's trueprogress. Hey, Brat, my Brat, Well, Randy made out like a bandit. He ended up with over $100 inbirthday money, plus his allowances saved for a few weeks, so he was rolling in dough. He decided to save half in his piggy bank, and spend half on one DVD and thisnew Radio Shack remote racing car set. He's in hog heaven. LOLWe finished off his cake and ice cream (orange pineapple cake and pineapple sherbet)tonight. He sure liked that one, so I guess that's what we'll have to have every year.Even my sisters, who came yesterday for the celebration, loved it. They usually wantour mother's chocolate cake for birthdays, but they had to admit this one was almostas good. I cooked a roast, artichokes, and macaroni salad this morning so we could have a colddinner later. It was hot here, today, and I hate cooking in the heat. I haven't got theback yard cleaned up from winter, yet, so don't have the furniture and umbrellas out.Can't stand out there and cook over the BBQ without shade. Gotta start getting thatarea in shape for the summer. Seems like we were freezing to death just a week ortwo ago, and soggy, to boot. Brat, That " thick " stuff our here is fog, dearie. In fact, we haven't had a

sunny day in

over a week. Almost feels like winter around here. I refuse to turn on the

heat, but

the boys are complaining every morning about being cold. I do cook them a

hot break-

fast every cold morning, so the kitchen is always nice and warm when they get

up,

they really have nothing to complain about...the twerps. However, as I said,
