Wendi,

There is a video series out called " Signing Time " web site is:

http://www.signingtime.com/. It was made (very professionally) by a mom who

had a child who was born deaf and also had a child who had normal hearing.

She wanted her younger son to be able to use sign to communicate with her

older daughter. Her research shows that learning to sign at a very early

age promotes lots of other benefits, including being able to communicate

with the deaf. Her videos show children signing and speaking the word that

is being signed, in many different situations, some of it is to music. The

mom's opening and closing songs, sung by her (very professionally), are

quite catchy. My 6 year old daughter, who learned about 7 signs when she

was younger, is now more interested in signing, even though she now uses

about 75 words in a day, about half of them are understandable to us, and

really enjoys watching and imitating the video. I am now learning more

signs too.

I highly recommend it. Kids really like to watch and hear kids on videos

and it is a great learning tool.

ABOUT DOGS FOR KIDS

I would have to second Traci's fantastic advice. I too have heard fro years

how wonderful dogs are for kids in general and especially kids with special

needs. So finally once we had a stable place to live with enough room we

decided to look for a dog. We wanted a young one so it could grow with the

boys and they wouldn't be dealing with " loss " too soon. The librarian's

sister in town had just rescued a wonderful golden 9month old male dog, a

mixed lab. he was friendly and energetic and potty-trained and my older son

got attached right away. however, my son with global dyspraxia, even at

allmost six yrs. old did not have good balance. the dog was untrained in

every other respect....didn't obey any commands or come when he was called

and jumped on everyone to say hello in his exuberance. So..you can imagine

the scenario.....after getting knocked flat by this dog a few times, with

the dog right on top of him, my son soon became terrified in his own home,

refusing to come into the room if the dog was there, hiding in closets. My

husband and I did not pick up on how bad it was for our son until......we

took the dog to the vet after 12 days to get checked and shots, etc. and the

dog tried to bite the vet and the vet said he thought it may be a lab mixed

with a pit bull and it was not a family dog and we should return it right

away!!!! My husband and older son were devastated, crying and sobbing and

on the other side of the room my son with apraxia was smiling a huge smile,

looking out the window and in a sing song voice saying " la la la la " . that

is when we stood back and realized how traumatic it had been for our kid!

He was very afraid of any dogs after those twelve days. But......a year and

a half later we were offered another free dog, a six year old purebred,

Llewellin English Setter, who is truly a dream come true!!!! What convinced

us to try again was when we went for a visit before getting her and our now

7 1/2 yr. old was trying not to touch her, this dog sat down, wagged his

tail and waited quietly until Micah got the courage up to reach over and pat

her! She is so gentle and calm even when he bugs her to death! Micah is

now all over her and talks to her a lot and is constantly playing with her

and yesterday I let him take her for a walk (in the driveway only) by

himself and he was so proud! So, it is definitely worth it with the RIGHT

dog! On the flip side, I have never had a dog in my life and it is quite a

SHOCK to me: the expense is OUTRAGEOUS and it is a LOT OF WORK! We have

only had her seven weeks and have already spent over a hundred dollars on

her!! I guess prone to ear infections?? And the poop in the yard is

driving me insane (especially here inthe frozen north where it freezes to

the snow almost the minute it lands! :) ha ha). So...there are pros and

cons to everything....weigh the decision carefully....my son is so much work

by himself that adding a dog has increased my work load to an extent that I

could not have handled earlier in our lives...but every family situation is

different and so is every dog! Best wishes making your decision, Carol

Yes, along with increased Magnesium and l-Taurine. It's hard to say if one

is more important than the other. Brains need effential fatty acids whether

they are prone to seizures or not.

All brains need all the B vitamins, in balance. The Bs are also necessary

cofactors to help make many other things - like Magnesium -- work.

I'm not so sure. I thought she was looking for me (vain creature that I am)

but I think she WAS looking for Anne (in Santos Santee) -- just can't miss

that zebra shirt, and our Lovely Lady Anne! Anyway, poor Pat now has enough

information to find both of us! LOL

Hugs and blessings, Ann

Thanks for info on Polysorbate. I'm making linen spray right now. One

spray at a time to perfect. Then I would like to work on body spray and

such. I had read somewhere about not being able to sell alcohol based

products so I need recipe ideas that do not include alcohol.

About soap. Does anyone use crockpot soap recipes? I found some on another

board.

Thanks

If you HAVE had revision surgery, when and why did you take this

risk? Was it worth it?

Hi, this is Marty-age 49, aka Quasimama, from Tucson AZ. I had my original

scoliosis surgery, uninstrumentated, by Dr McGinn in Bangor Maine in 1967,

fused T4 to L1. I had my revision surgery done by Dr. Dennis Crandall in

Phoenix AZ on December 2, 2003, fusion continued to S1 with instrumentation. I

chose Dr. Crandall as he had experience with revision and was one of the first

doctors approved to use BMP. I have very mixed feelings about my results, now

16 months post-op. Granted, my pain is minimal now, on no pain meds except for

over the counter, but I also am much stricter on my activities. Where before

surgery, I only had flatback symptoms by end of the work day, I now am in the

" ten after six " position within minutes of waking up. Crandall's PA,

, who is the person one sees 90% of the time one goes in for follow-up,

just keeps telling me my hip flexors are tight and to keep stretching. I keep

thinking, this is NOT my fault for lack of TRYING to stand upright!. Also, when

I asked her if they would do more surgery to correct the fusion failure that

resulted at S1, she said no. One other comment, of ALL the Orthopedic doctors I

have seen in almost 30 years, living in 4 states, Crandall is the only one that

NEVER once looked at my actual back! ... only the xrays. Well, except for

taking the " before " photos immediately before surgery, which, by the way, he

never took AFTER photos. Does that tell me something? Has anyone out there

seen continued improvement this far after the surgery? Is there still hope for

me, or only more surgery if I can't cope with this? It is very depressing to

catch a glimpse of myself in storefront windows... or to see people that are 20

or 30 years older than me just zipping along walking totally upright. I am

going to give myself 'til the end of this year to decide if I should pursue

looking into further surgery. I just can't imagine living like this for another

40 or more years! Take care, all! ... and " Hokey-Pokey! "

Hi Debbie,

I will reply after each of your questions:

-------------------------------------------------------

Do you mean to say your hyperthyroid was treated by

doctors recovered, but

came back again when you start to take VCO?

ANS. I was a teenager then. And yes, the doctor gave

me liquid iodine to drop on my drinks each meal for a

year. This i did religiously to avoid surgery. I

can't tell if it came back because of the vco. Other

factors could have caused it to come back too.

The rbd oil you mentioned is not

coconut oil?

ANS. The RBD Oil is coconut oil indeed.

Are you still taking pill?

ANS. No longer take it. I did take it for a year

which is the normal duration.

How long did you take the 3 to 5 tablespoon of VCO?

ANS. three years.

At this period what is the reaction, any sore, red

spots, dryness in your throat?

ANS. I did have some sore, dryness in my throat and

red spots even before i took VCO because i am

DIABETIC. And I am also allergic to mold. And do have

arthritis/rheumatism.

Is the return of your hyperthyroid due to RBD oil

instead?

ANS. I really can't tell coz now I am nearly 60. It

could also be triggered by the herbal drinks I took

plus the vegetables i've been eating.

What do you think if you increase your VCO and also

replace it with the RBD cooking oil?

ANS. I can't figure out what you mean. Increase vco

is fine. But too much is also not too good. Go by the

daily recommended dosage. Replacing intake of vco

with rbd is another thing. RBD has less of the other

good acids that diminish when going through heat.

Lauric acid may not be affected by heat though.

I suppose it may work. Sorry, too much questions.

My friend have Hypothyroid, she used VCO for 3 weeks

and experience dryness

and red spot on the throat.

ANS. This could be hexheimer or the cleansing process

done by the vco for her body.

After that it gone and she says she feels

better, she reducing her T4 slowly and gone without it

for more days to see

if the throat balloon again. Waiting for the report.

Hypothyroid ... shouldn't it have lower T4? Why is

she reducing her T4 intake? (Hey, members, please help

me on this, am i correct?)

My fat maid was always eagle for food 2 hrs before

meals, when my family

convert to VCO as cooking oil and consume direct she

followed. She feels

very good, all her pain on the body, lumps on breast

go off. Her eagle for

food also gone, now she eat little and sometime don't

eat, she lost weight.

I wonder is her syndromes due to hyperthyroid and the

VCO work on her?

ANS. One sure sign of hyperthyroid is falling hair in

great number....and weight loss....check the shower

floor and the floor where she combs her hair specially

after she washes it. If there is lots of hair, then

she needs a test.

On the other hand, craving for food can also be

attributed as a sign of diabetes. Ger her checked for

this too.

OR, you have to consider that she is physically active

as a maid, moving around too much, which depletes

energy. She needs to recharge. Give her snacks.

I hope I answered your queries.

Good luck.

Hi ,

Thank you so much for your time to answer my questions.

So are you still taking VCO for DIABETIC, allergic

arthritis/rheumatism?

My friend reduced her T4, replace by increase VCO cause she wanted to see

the effects of VCO. If she does not ballon without the T4, she can just go

without it which means she is cured.

I suggested you to increase the VCO and replace it for cooking, because my

experience with the Taiwan master who uses CO for treatments did that. Her

treatments is free of charge and sometime even give CO for the patients to

bring home. Her method is to drink a glass everytime and use it for cooking.

No doubts the website have been suggesting a tablespoon 2 to 3 times a day,

but according to the master this is drinking too little. Her answer is

drinking too little may help you too improve very slowly on a problem and

but the other parts of the body may have other side effects. I saw her

terminal diseases patients taking the treatments, it is very tough and

really suffers but they gain their health and walk out happy after half year

or some even 1 year.

I will be writing a book on this, visiting her again to collect some photos

of the past treatments.
