Guest guest
Hi Lona, you asked what other type of douche powder I used? It's called Trichotine Douche powder...... It used to be available in a liquid 'and' a powered form. Today I've only been able to find it in a powdered form and the druggist had to special order it. It was expensive but a bottle of it might last a year or more since barely a quarter teaspoon is all you need in one of those little throw away bottles. Hope that helps.... it leaves a nice 'slick' feel and doesn't have a bad taste either, *wink*.. (just in case) LOL Then the other one if I feel it's an infection is the Betadine povidone iodine.. which comes highly concentrated and is a liquid. Although Ora discovered it did have a tad of that non-oxynol 9 in it and I just absolutely hate that ingredient with a passion and how it can severely irritate... I will use it ocassionally because it can help kill virus's, fungal infections and bacterial ones. Not 100% but pretty good and is why doctors do an iodine swab before surgery or wash their hands with it or give us a swab to wipe for a clean urine catch.. Speaking of the non-oxynol 9? guess what? Just yesterday I received a notice from the FDA that they are finally at the stage of really trying to get at least a label warning on it about the risks of using it. It's about time....I've written them so many times about it when they wanted the publics input. This is what it said in part....... ''Based on the studies, the agency is also proposing a warning to inform users of OTC vaginal spermicides containing nonoxynol 9 that frequent use can increase 'vaginal irritation' and may increase the risk of getting the AIDS virus (HIV) or other STDs from infected partners. ...... The agency is also proposing a warning to stop use and ask a doctor if irritation of the vagina or penis occurs. The agency recommended a similar warning in the NPRM (60 FR 6892 at 6901): If you or your partner develops irritation, such as burning or itching in the genital area, stop using this product. If irritation continues, contact your physician.'' The agency is revising that warning in this document to state: ``Stop use and ask a doctor if [heading in bold type] you or your partner get burning, itching, a rash, or other irritation of the vagina or penis.'' Further, the warning that reads ``For vaginal use only'' needs to be included in accordance with the requirements in Sec. 201.66©(5)(i). What I thought was ridiculous though *** arghhhhh ** they considered that frequent use term to be IF you used it 'more' than once a day..... HOW STUPID... I'd think anything like that used more than once a day could irritate, but that stuff can irritate & more used even once in a blue moon let alone once a day. *sigh* Dee ~
