Guest guest
I couldn't watch the videos because I have a Mac, however thanks for posting this. This evening we made an attempt to take Benny to church--the 5 pm children's service. Although it was much shorter than the usual service, it was extremely difficult for him and for us. Benny gets very upset usually when we sing at home, although he has shown some signs the past six weeks of tolerating it more. However, everybody singing at church was just too much. With one exception: when everybody sang the long " Gloooooooooria " in " Angels We have heard on High, " he actually sang along with it wordlessly, with his mouth wide open in an " Ahhhhh " . Which confirms the idea that what really bothers him is that everybody else can sing with the music, with words, and he can't. He has, however, been doing some humming this week. Our Rector was very good with him, he held him on his lap, sitting on the floor, while the other kids presented the Christmas skit. And intervened several other times. Our congregation is very accepting of hyper kids...however we still had to go in and out and the candlelit Silent Night was too much...I had to take a candle to Benny in the other room because everybody was singing again. He did like the candle, though. He has made so much progress but there is still a long way to go. And it was very tough on his father, who always wanted to be invisible as a child in church because of being a PK--and then is very visible trying to take care of a very visible and audible kid. It really is hard sometimes. My son agreed to come with me tonight because I was going to try to take Benny myself but have been having too many chest pains and palpitations, and wasn't sure I could do it.
