That's Ex Lax Brand, ......

And there is ducosote sodium in there...which is a dependency causing laxative.

Anyone needs more info on this product, email privately.

Hi -- for Tanner, do you use the Milk of Magnesia Strawberry

concentrated or the Strawberry Creme flavor or... was just online

and saw those two different ones and wanted to check with you.

Hi Karyn -

Just a reminder Tanner's pediatric gastroenterologist Lawrence

MD from Palm Beach Florida -told me NOT to be without Milk of

Magnesia ever -and that this was the safest and gentlest way to get

a child that is constipated to " go " (I guess given the

alternatives) Of course this is also the doctor that educated us

about papaya and all the nectars -the natural way -which is working

when enough is used by more than just Tanner. Also -MOM is to be

used only when Tanner doesn't go for one day -which is not often.

(whole prescription in the archives)

I didn't know MOM was made by Exlax...It says it's a Bayer product -

was it sold or does Bayer also own Exlax? I have to run to the

cookie event now (kids are out of shower) -and I didn't find that

ingredient on the bottle you said is habit forming either. I highly

recommend MOM -and if we have needed to use it ever -it's worked for

us as the " co star " (and again -as I've posted -high fiber as Dr.

told me could be getting short chained in the gut which is why

we saw the regressions in Tanner on the high fiber -that didn't work

for us...and he had regressions. High fiber didn't work for

either - is still in my prayers)

But Karyn please do send here any info you have that we need to know

about this! And thanks!

Talk to you guys later!

" ' Milk of Magnesia has provided effective, stimulant-free

relief of constipation for over 125 years. Unlike some other

laxatives, doctor recommended ' Milk of Magnesia does not

contain the harsh stimulants that can cause pain and cramping. When

taken at a lower dose, ' can also be used for fast-acting

relief of acid indigestion, sour stomach, and heartburn. Available

in Mint, Cherry, and Original formulas. "

Hi-- actually the bottle I have is Milk of Magnesia wild

cherry and it lists out carboxymethylcellulose sodium, citric acid,

red #28, flavor, glycerin, microcystalline cellulose, sodium citrate,

sodium hypochlorite, sucrose, water, xanthan gum. Active ingredient

is magnesium hydroxide 400 mg's.

No docusate sodium.

The original flavor only had the magnesium, sodium hypochlorite and

water I think. I was tempted to get that and just buy some natural

flavoring and see if I could make a flavored version without all

the " stuff " that the wild cherry has, but, I think I'll see if this

wild cherry even helps her to begin with and if so, then I'll try to

make a flavored one.

From what I was coming across yesterday on the net, the MoM was

listed under osmotic laxatives and not stimulant laxatives. Yes, the

docusate sodium ingredient (as in colace) does seem to cause

dependency. I used that following childbirth and things were messed

up for awhile as I was trying to get away from using it. I don't

know what I'll do with my dd... I think I'll try this with her for a

week or two and see if it works. She's otherwise healthy, not

bloated... it's just that her constipation is so different and not

responsive to the " usual " methods that I want to give this one a try

and see if it will do anything for her. One more clue in terms of

figuring her out at least!

Thanks,

W
