Guest guest
Hi, all. It's not Sunday, but to those of you who pray, please pray for me as I go in to have my knee replacement surgery tomorrow morning. I'll be off the forum from tomorrow for about 10 days, but I'll be thinking about you. These are days of high anxiety, as you might imagine. Interestingly, they have taken me off all anti-inflammatory meds pre- surgery, and the " electrical shocks " are much worse than usual, and overall pain is worse, but I know that there's a lot of osteoarthritis all over also. I wonder how many CMTers also have advanced osteoarth. It would seem to be a rather logical result of the CMT, all things considered. I've been doing some pre-surg physical therapy. The original idea was for gait training because of recent AFO. Actually it has turned into some strength building in order to help with the after-surgery pain, mobility, etc. especially since my gait seems to be okay with the AFO. The PT is helping a good deal and the therapist is knowledgeable enough about the CMT so that she is not trying to build muscle where it's atrophied. Thank goodness! She's concentrating on hips and thighs and I do think it is helping my walking in general. A couple of times I have objected to certain exercises because of causing too much strain on my already strained knees, and she has dropped those. It's good to have courage to let my voice be heard. At least in this instance it has helped me not to injure myself by not speaking up! I may check the posts once more this evening, but I have a mountain of things yet to do today! It may be good to be under anesthesia, in order to get some rest! Regards to all. I will look forward to seeing the posts when I return.
