Guest guest
Does Atlantis Academy also service middle and high school? My son attends Wilton Manors and they seem to have a great program. Of course all schools have their issues and I have been unable to be a fly on the wall. However, the administration is ESE friendly, which is huge and it is a magnet school, if that helps. They have a Characters of Excellence program and practice it throughout the school. The Autism Coach is very experienced. Guest guest
Before I approach your senior lawmakers from FL., I would really appreciate it if someone could make a list of all the school districts that use CPI, as none of them that do seem to pay attention to certification or BIP's that do not call for it. I would like to be able to cite multiple school districts.. I know it's statewide but I will be better prepared if I have individual names that the US Senators and House Reps along with your Gov, and State Senators will recognize. Thank you to whoever may do this for me... time is always not on my side !! I moved Miki there last March after her "naked off the bus" escapades. The school she was at wanted to put her in a Center claiming her bahavior was the problem. After showing up at the IEP with an attorney I moved her to Mirror Lake. (Maybe a shorter bus ride and 1-1 on the bus would be a less restrictive solution than a Center!) Well, this is the third school in 4 yrs. The Principal called me to welcome me! called me frequently at first, not to complain about Miki's behavior, but to ask questions and offer suggestions. She isn't calling as often now, but Miki is doing really well. She's progressing academically. Have we had problems? Yes, the cochlear flushed down the toilet was a big one. It was resolved quickly and very much to my satisfaction. I've had one IEP and I feel Teri Dornacker (ESE Spec) is pleasant, knowledgeable, and willing to listen to me, the parent. Schools are very much like any relationship. It's funny how the one that drives you crazy is happily "married" to someone else....and then there are the one's we ALL consider jerks. Jayne, Mom to Miki who is in school reading, writing, and doing rithmetic... --------- Re: find a school for my son Yes! We go from 1st through 12th. Ilyssa Hershey, Psy.D.
