RE: Polycose

Hi ,

My son used Polycose. The amount we used was determined by his

nutritionist. We also had to buy it from CVS. It was about $20 for a can

which lasted almost 2 months. We would mix a teaspoon to 8 ounces of

formula. It increased calories by about 2 per ounce. So it would make our

son's pediasure 32 calories per ounce instead of 30. The nutritionist warned

us not increase calories much beyond 34 calories per ounce for children

under 2 because there was an increased risk of vomiting, just like if you

had taken ipecac.

Enlive if I remember correctly is a high calorie fruit juice drink that

tastes really bad ( my son thought so also and refused to drink it).

I was going email direct bot most of this info could be used by others.

I'm looking at a can of Polycose and I'll pass on some of the info on the

can. does not currently use Polycose but we did for some time,

before

she got her G tube

for persons with increased energy needs or those who are unable to meet

their caloric requirements... "

We added Polycose to 's formula before we switched to pediasure.

We had to have a local pharmacy order it and unfortunately I can't remeber

if

we needed a prescription to get it. Oh, we did have a Rx but I think it was

so insurance will pay. Which brings me to Pediasure before got her

tube was drinking about 30oz per day of Pediasure, quite expensive. It was a

battle but our insurance paid as long as we had a prescription.

I have no idea what Suplena or Enlive Juice drinks but I know others

have

mentioned them and I also look foward to seeing that info especially about

the Juice.
