Guest guest
Well, I am just popping in to say that I am so glad to see Axel posting to the group again. I think your posts MAKE this group, Axel. I was considering leaving the group for a while. Think I'll stay now. However, as a digest subscriber, I would like to request more snipping of replies, meaning we really only need to keep the basics of what we are replying to in our replies. It is much easier on the eyes and much less time consuming to read a digest when umpteen previous replies and the gobble-dee-goop from are cut or at least curbed from the current reply. I do not intend to insult, just to remind us all to check the subject and shorten the message we are replying to in our responses. I joined this group last September after a very frightening 9 months of itchy hives all over my body and then swellings (urticaria) of my lips, eyes and finally throat. In August 2002 I saw a naturopath for the first time and he put me on the Blood Type Diet immediately. Within 2 weeks, I was no longer having swellings and the hives were quite diminished. About a month later there were no hives at all. I was astonished and so happy! I have been on the BTD ever since, but in the last few months have been straying into the wheat world and gaining weight. (Duh!) I have been having very strong gastrointestinal pain after eating wheat products as well. I need to re-motivate myself and get back to the diet. OK, I feel better after that confession. :-) Just before seeing my naturopath last year, I quit my job of only 18 months because it was too stressful. I'm sure that one act helped my fast recovery. I have been working for another company for the past 9 months doing computer work, which I LOVE. The owners are very nice people, and I have been able to pretty much set my own hours. However, it IS a sit-down job and I wonder if it is contributing to my latest woe. I have been walking for 45-60 minutes about 3 times a week over the past several months with a friend. She is using a heart rate monitoring device to gauge her exercise and being more overweight and shorter than I, we walk at a much slower pace than I like. Having said that, I am suffering from a pain in the inner thigh/groin area after walking for about 30-45 minutes. I have a doctor's appt. with my family doc tomorrow to discuss this and a possible migraine event I had a couple of weeks ago (iridescent lights blocking my peripheral vision for about 15-30 minutes and a slight dizzy spell shortly afterwards). I am wondering if I should walk for about 30 minutes before my appointment in order to more accurately describe the pain and even show him where it is... I'm also thinking he may be able to feel something I wouldn't notice. What do you think? Anyway, with all this sitting during the day, eating more wheat products, not drinking as much water as I should, do you think my groin muscle cramping is to be expected? Are there other questions I should ask when I see my family doc? I hate to make appointments when it's something I should be able to figure out for myself, but the cramping can be severely painful and I wanted to rule out... I don't know, an injury of some sort I guess. Think I'll switch to individual messages for a while and see if I can keep up. Thanks for your input,

Guest guest
" " " I believe part of the problem is the world at large doesn't make it easy for us. Restaurants, fast food, etc. " " " Hi - I hate to disagree with you on this one, but I don't think the outside world has any controls over our choices when it comes to food. It is very easy to order some form of protein along with a salad or greens. All restaurants offer some herbal tea. What else do we need? Love you! Guest guest
Hi W and everyone else who has sent their best wishes to us. I wish I could say that 's abdomin distension started with the Miralax but actually he's always had it. I can't remember a time when he didn't. It's just gotten more severe over the years. The Miralax for us has been the only thing that has helped. Although it doesn't make him go normal, it at least keeps it flowing out, even if it is watery and just leaks out all day long. At this point, that's fine with us because we just can't have it get stuck again. As mentioned, we're going for a second opinion on Tuesday so we'll see where that brings us. I think either way he needs the cecostomy in order to give his colon time to heal. I will pursue the medications as an effort to keep it from getting stuck long term but right now as I understand it, his colon is in such bad shape that he needs the cecostomy to keep it flushed. It's either that or a colostomy to totally bypass it so the cecostomy seems like the better way to go for now. I've printed out all the info. you provided and will speak to his dr's about it. We have to keep it completely empty and we obviously can't live forever the way we are now with the Miralax because it's very limiting to a normal life. If there is one thing that I can guarantee it's that whatever comes our way, I will get to the bottom of it and will pursue the best treatment available no matter what it takes. I refuse to believe the horrible things they're telling me are possible until I have to. W, I really appreciate the care that comes across in your emails and although this is devastating, it helps to know how many people care. Thanks in MA kdr2@...
