Jersey Takes Lead in Confronting Autism

An excellent article in today's Star Ledger about the Autism Center at

UMDNJ, Newark, NJ by Carol Ann .

Back in 1995 when I first contacted Jim Oleske, MD about our son,

(who was 10 years old at the time) about testing his immune system (Dr.

Oleske found that he had elevated measles antibody titers in November

1995, Dr. Oleske is currently involved with the Autism Center along with

Dr. Harumi Jyonouchi), little did I realize that there would be an

Autism Center at UMDNJ, Newark, NJ. Dr. Walter Zahorodny was with Dr.

Oleske at that time monitoring regarding the treatment he was

receiving with the intravenous gamma globulin (IVIG).

Dr.Xue Ming is mentioned in the article and she has been very helpful

for in getting help for his aggressions through some prescription

medication. I wish to thank her for what she has done for and the

other children she sees at the Autism Center.

Also I would like to thank Dr. Abudato and Dr. Iona Monteiro for

their help with and all the terrific staff at the Autism Center.

I want to thank Madeleine Goldfarb, Agnes Ruby Cushing and Sallie

Bernard who were responsible for making the Autism Center become a

reality. Without their help this center would not have happened.

An interesting article which references the Autism Center at the University of

Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School in Newark. It

also mentions essential fatty acids and other alternative treatments.
