Nasopharyngoscopy - apposing vocal cords versus opposing?

nasopharyngoscopy: True vocal cords although _____ s/l apposing well have

tiny patches of leukoplakia.

It sounds like the doctor is saying opposing, but I thought it was apposing.

In trying to do a google search using apposing vocal cords and opposing

vocal cords I get about the same number of hits, so I cannot narrow it down

that way.

Any input on if it should be opposing or apposing?
