Hi , At one time my daughter was on Geodon, but it wasn't helpful for

her. She developed abnormal neck movements(a side effect of some meds,

according to the medication book that I have) that I think was a result of that

medication. Everyone is different, though, and it might be good for some

people. I was skepical about the movements, at first, because my daughter

tends

to exaggerate a lot, but those problems went away when she was taken off of

it. Right now she takes 1350 mg a day of Lithium, 30mg of

mertazapine(Remeron) and 10 mg of Lexapro and is more stable than she has been

in a long time.

She is 19 and repeating her senior year in high school. It is amazing to me

how many combinations of meds are used to treat this disorder! We have also

started the DBT program which continues for a year, and even though it has

only been 2 months since she started, I can see some progress. I am praying

that it continues.

good luck to you.

My son TJ, 16, is now on an anti seizure med Lamictal , in a packet

increasing slowly, along with the Zypreza .05 in am & .10 in

pm ,Lexapro .10 mg and newly bugun Stratera 40 mg. He was haveing severe

mood drops in the eve on a regular basis and when stopping the Adderal

he leveled out immediatly. I agree these meds are scary but with living

with 2 sons 16 7 30 with BPD I wouldn't dare be without.

Have lived in the hell without meds and I dare any professional to come

live at my house and think I don't know what I'm talking about.

Mostly it all depends on communication trust etc to keep the compliance

on our childrens part. They must know we believe there are answers and

keep on trying all avenues.

Take care,

it. Last summer she had a crisis and ended up in a out of state hospital for 2

days, the doc there couldn't believe she was on 140mg Geodone, said its too much

for a teenager and took her off cold turkey, at the time I thought that was good

because of all the medicine she takes. Month later things went downhill for her

and her local doc & therapist got her back on Geodone, said she notice
