Guest guest
In addition, if you are sensitive to formaldehyde as I am, the polyesters, nylons, rubgers etc... tend to outgas a lot of this chemical. I recently bought a top with a Winnie the pooh rubbery decal on it, and within a few minutes of putting it on, my eyes are gritty and my face is getting hot. As soon as I take it off the symptoms start to recede. I find that I'm so sensitive now that I can even smell the chemicals coming from the rubber. Ditto for new paint and carpets and many plastics etc... Kerry Re: Fabrics and Flares <<<<>>>>> Hi Jane, If you don't find that it's the detergent, fabric softener, or dry cleaning chemicals, it could be the fabric of the dress or scarf itself that may be causing your body to heat up and thereby causing a flare indirectly. I have to be careful about my choice of fabrics, because some fabrics just don't breathe, and in the warmer months I feel like my whole body will suffocate. Polyester is out, as is nylon. Surprisingly, you'd think that all cottons are cool, but I find the gauzy type of cottons that are made in India just absolutely suffocate me in the summer. I'm much better off with rayon sundresses - they seem the coolest. If the fabric doen't breathe, it could cause your flare indirectly, by heating you up, rather than directly, as in a chemical sensitivity.
