Guest guest
Hello, everyone. Thank you so much for your support and information. It helped me get through yesterday without being too anxious. Today I spoke to Dr. Harbison and so did Max. Right now the decision is to give the Prilosec two to three weeks to see if it works. Dr. H. will confirm it with the GI doctors tomorrow, too. If there is still leaking, then Max will have to have surgery which will put him into the hospital for 5 days or so and require a 4 week recovery time at home. Well, not all of that time at home. He will be able to go to school, but he will not be able to do karate or dancing. I purposely had Max talk to Dr. H. because I think he is old enough now that he should have a say in all of this. She was pretty graphic and direct with what will be done and can be expected. Interestingly, Max said he wants the surgery because he wants to get this button site healed and done with. I think that is an important thing to consider. The agreement is that we will give the Prilosec the time the doctors recommend, then not hesitate or delay in the surgery if it does not work. I think Max will handle the surgery well because he is informed and is making his own choice. So, that is all for now. Never a dull moment in this household!
