Guest guest
I have everythign the girls do in a day on the schedule. play time, art time, tv time, therapy sessions, meals, baths, movie time, nap time, and bedtime. I have the day broken down into 30 minute blocks. Some activities like movie time I have more than 1 block of time slotted, other things like art time is a 30 minute block. But for art time and play time I also have something flexible, like tv time, slotted after it. So if they get really involved in a game or a craft project we can just skip tv and stick with what we're doing. I have my day scheduled like that as well. That way I can be putting in laundry or cooking during tv or movie time. Toni [ ] schedule - help please! Hi All, I need some help. is bored and he's destroying my house. I want to create a picture schedule for daily activities. What I need are ideas. I'm thinking coloring, books and puzzles, sensory time (like playdoh), but what else. How long should I allow for these, how long for free time? I've got a timer, and everything I need to make the schedule, just need direction on how to get started. He's been taking the cushions off of my couch, colored under the cushions, took off a poopy diaper (here I think he was trying to help so we had to talk about doing this in the bathroom). I took all toys except for books and puzzles out of the living room. Those I've put in his own room, I figure he can have free time up there and I'll have the main living area for his structured activities. Hope you can help. Do you start with play time or art time? Just a typical time frame to give me an idea to work from. Best, [ ] schedule - help please! Hi All, I need some help. is bored and he's destroying my house. Guest guest
Hi , I would not call " sensory time " that but would break it down further. (bubbles, water play, sand table, karoke, etc). If you allow your son a choice between two sensory items for example, you'd then have created specific visual items for his schedule instead of just one that says " sensory " which he most likely won't know what he's going to be doing during that time. I've made visual schedules for two of my kids and have for about 7 or 8 years now. Let me know if you need ideas for any specifics. I've also always had a " Mark's choice " and a " Mommy's choice " as part of the schedule. It allows your child a chance to have some limited say in what his day will hold and also gives you (or whatever person is working with him) the same. As for how long to allow for each activity, that is going to depend a lot on your child. We've had to build Mark up to certain times doing certain activities. Homework is one. At first we did that for 5 minutes and then 10 minutes etc. Good luck! Tammy in Oregon [ ] schedule - help please! Hi All, I need some help. is bored and he's destroying my house.
