Guest guest
HI & all, Since Arline isn't with the list any longer, (she was our pro on Celiac) I thought I'd send on some good links. It's something we don't talk about too often (Ciara and some others do) and the possibility of a connection of V. pain (and other pains) as to how it might tie into Celiac Disease and diets. Celiac is an inherited autoimmune allergy or sensitivity to gliadin that is found in Wheat, Rye, Oats, & Barley * the grains*, and is so often overlooked or misdiagnosed, and malabsorption is the main problem which of course can trigger so many other diseases unsuspectingly. I've gathered together over the yrs some very interesting reading even if you think you may 'not' have Celiac Disease I think you'll be surprised. Believe me until I did a ton of my own reading & research I never gave it much of a thought but there are some very detailed legitimate medical journals & articles out there that have convinced me (as well as Arline) there are a lot of people running around with it that have NO idea and it is much more common than realized and potentially health threatening even ending in death and it is genetic. Here are some interesting links collected thru the years (I just looked in my 'stuff' and I've got 483 files or articles on it, YIKES) so I hope these help give you a little preview of it and it truly is something worth considering as a possibility or a trigger for part if not all of your pain and not only vulvar pain but if you have a collection of other diseases it may also tie into those, such as: Chronic fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Thyroid disease, Infertility, Anemia, Gastrointestinal conditions especially, Atopic Dermatitis, Dermatitis herpetiformis, Alopecia (hair loss), Neuropathy, Cholesterol too low (malabsorption) Osteoporosis, Diarrhea, Candida/yeast infections, Flatulence (gas), Depression, Fatigue, Irritability, Muscle wasting, Brain Fog, Diabetes mellitus type 1, Sjögren's syndrome, Collagen disorders, Rheumatoid arthritis, Liver disease, Vitiligo, and soooooo much more !! I had a whole list, all organized with many more listed but I can't find it *DUH*. OOPS...... never mind, I looked again and found it. *grin* http://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=7 *********** If you don't read any of the others below DO check out this one. Anyway hope these few links below might be of help to someone to at least give it a consideration for not only vulvar pain but many other conditions and worth a trial run with a diet free of glutens for a short time to see if it helps. Hugs to all, Dee~ 1. http://www.ama-assn.org/sci-pubs/amnews/pick_03/hlsd0303.htm> Celiac not so rare at all. 2. http://www.candidapage.com/cccomp.shtml Celiac & yeast infections. I know many of you feel plagued with yeast infections that are chronic, Celiac may be the tie in. 3. http://www.gluten-free.org/hoggan/ This one has a lot of information. 4. http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/c/celiac_disease/intro.htm From Wrong Diagnosis a very good review. 5.. http://www.enabling.org/ia/celiac/doc/news0302%20latov%20article.pdf Celiac & Neuropathy.... a pdf file and I know some of you feel you have nerve damage, this might apply. <clip> "Most frequently, what you have is pain and bizarre types of sensations – burning, ice cold, prickly, stinging. Sometimes there is both spontaneous pain and lack of induced pain. There can be very confusing symptoms. The problem is that when you describe this to friends, family members or physicians, they look at you like you’re crazy. Peripheral neuropathy is a diagnosis that is very commonly missed." 6. http://www.aafp.org/afp/980301ap/pruessn.html A very good read from Amer. Fam. Physicians, with photos of Dermatitis, etc. 7. http://jnnp.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/full/72/5/560 Celiac History from Gut to Brain from the British Medical Journal . 8. http://www.enterolab.com The lab Arline suggests to be tested by with a stool test. (Dr. Fine) She believes they are the best, others a waste of money because of the way it's tested generally won't be accurate (Don't waste your money & time in other words *according to her*) AND.... I just saw a report today from Celiac.com that agreed with her that most other tests in practice lack the sensitivity to detect it and are not that effective. Hope these help.
