It's gotten a little better at home, but at school it's a daily thing when not wanting to do something. (mom to 15, DS/ASD)

Guest guest
Candy- What I would do is focus on the relationship in the brain between olfaction and the other functions of the limbic system. One of my favorite sites is Tim 's research site- http://www.cf.ac.uk/biosi/staff/jacob/ Also look at the Sense of Smell Institute- http://www.senseofsmell.org/ More- http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/neuro/neuro99/web1/Bernstein.html and check some of the links at the bottom of that page. candy brasier wrote: > HELLO ALL, > > I HAVE A NEED AND IF ANYBODY CAN HELP IT WOULD BE YOU. > I HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE AN AROMATHEREPY CLASS AND I > HAVE TO DO AN ESSAY. That's a very valid viewpoint. Good to hear about your nerves coming through well. My left taste nerve was removed and I still don't have a good sense of taste on that side. It used to taste sour on that side all of the time, but several years later, it has subsided. > Just waiting for the dizziness to subside. I am hoping within the next > day or two. Anyone have bad residual dizziness? How long did it last? According to my less than reverant sons, I was dizzy before surgery and still dizzy now ;-> I suspect that your dizziness is related to stirring things up around that area. You're less than a week postop. I think I'd be safe in saying that it's still pretty early. It can also be caused by general anesthesia and it takes a while for all of those chemicals to leave your body. I'm betting you'll feel much more stable in a week or two. Glad to " hear " that all went well. Diane Chidgey McNelly Sassy Suds, Inc. http://www.sassysuds.com
Guest guest
Hi Stephnie, viral loads alongwith the alt and ast levels define the rate of ur liver damage at the present moment, but dont worry as u will start the treatment, within 3 months ur viral load will become very low, even your PCR test will be -ve within 3 months. I had the same genotype 3a, I have done the INF / rib treatment. and everything got normal. but in my case I got reactivation of my hep c after the 6 months of finishing the treatment but it depends on different cases. Go ahead for the treamtent with courage , as you have to face some side effects of the treamtent but dont worry, by the Grace of GOD everything will be fine, wish you best of luck with your treatment. bye. Guest guest
Thanks so much for your help. I am going to pick up my medicine tomorrow and plan to start my treatments Sunday night. I don't work right now so my two kids are in school so I figure this will give me some recovery time while they are in school. Can you tell me how the treatments affected you? Thanks, basit hussain <basithussain@...> wrote: Hi Stephnie, viral loads alongwith the alt and ast levels define the rate of ur liver damage at the present moment, but dont worry as u will start the treatment, within 3 months ur viral load will become very low, even your PCR test will be -ve within 3 months. Guest guest
Dear , Good luck with your course of the Hep C treatment. My husband and I both did it at two different intervals, him first and me second and we both knocked the virus out to undetectable levels. Now it is a over a year since I finished and my levels are still undetectable. We both feel great. But I want to warn you about the side effects. I am now 41 years old and was 39 when I was taking the course. My husband is one year younger than I am. He managed to work full time while doing the treatment and I took care of him every weekend when he did the injection every friday after work. For him the treatment was like having the flu for two days every week for six months: very unpleasant but aspirin and lots of fluids and good food kept him able to go to work every day on Monday again. For me it was a different story all together. I had nearly all the side effects listed on the medicine. What I didn't have was a doctor who cared about that and I cannot stress firmly enough that you need to make sure your doctor helps you with the side effects if you have them. Big problems can be with depression and anger (which the liver seems to trigger). If you have problems with these at all during the treatment make sure you immediately seek help. Also sleeplessness which wears you down and can make the whole treatment unbearable. Mid course I had problems with this and was finally helped the last month with sleeping aids after I had truly become delirious. I had never had problems with these things before the treatment and was really shocked at how I felt completely out of control at times. You say you have children, as I do too and I want to emphasize that you need to make sure you have support when you need it. I don't know how old your kids are but they may find it hard to understand what you are going through so try to explain it to them and ask for their support. My son saved me, but I cannot say it was easy for him! I also had the strong support of a partner who understood what I was going through so I was very lucky. Recruit your friends and family for help too. Have them look at the pamphlet that comes with the medicine. Stay strong- excercise regularly buy don't over do it! Becoming weak during the treatment ruined my health for a year afterwards and I am now strong again and going to yoga and the gym but it has taken much time to get my tone back. Drink lots of fluids, especially water which helps flush out the toxins. Milk thistle supplement is tested and proven to help lower liver stress and we have taken it for years and highly recommend it. I think my case with the medicine is an extreme one and I don't want to scare you, I just want to make sure you know to ask for the support you need in dealing with side effects because there are many solutions to problems you may go through and you should not have to suffer any more than necessary! I wish you the best and you can contact me with any questions at sienna@... Guest guest
Dear Sienna, Thank you for the advise. I am at home with my mom right now and she helps out alot with my kids, because they are a handful, lol. I just have one more question for you. When you would get sick would it be an all week thing or just a couple of days? I know you said your husband was only a couple of days, but I take it that you were sick more? Am I right? I am just confused about what day would be a good day to take my treatment on. My mom works during the week and I usually pick the kids up from school around 2:30 and have them by myself until 5:30. So I was wondering if I should take them on Sunday night so I can rest while they are in school on Monday or should I take it on the weekends when my mom will be home with me? Guest guest
Dear , I was pretty fine for the first two treatments or so but went steadily downhill from there. I think my case was not the norm though and my reaction was really severe, preventing me from working and hardly being able to do anything. I was worse off the two days after the interferon shot but then still was ill during the week. Now I am fine so it is even weirder to think about how ill I was. I tend to be really sensitive to most medications though. My husband took his interferon shot every Friday after work so I could take care of him during the weekend. In your case it might be better to take it on Friday night before you go to bed so if you do start getting more ill from it your mom can help you with the kids, but it is hard to say and depends on your reaction. As the treatment progresses you will see how you fare on it and it is hard to predict. Most people get flu like symptoms and fever for a couple of days and then feel pretty ok for the rest of the week. What can I say- it is kind of hard to decide when to take it! My guess though would be that it would be best to have your mom with you in case it starts getting worse because support from a loved one is really needed, especially with responsibilies like kids! You may find you have to relinquish the idea of being a super mom though which I found really difficult. My son was 12 when I was taking it and he could understand theoretically but it was pretty stressful for him to have his mom be sick, but I found his presence a good reason to survive the treatment! Maybe your kids are younger? You are very lucky you have a mom to help you out!
