Guest guest
Did you call her right back and tell her it's time to call for the results. They can get them if they want them. That is true. When my former primary (notice I said "FORMER") made a big deal out of the size of my thyroid and sent me for an ultrasound they told me the doctor should have the results within about 2-3 days, and the doctor could get on the computer and find out sooner if they wished. This was on a Thurs. Tues. I called to see if they had gotten it back. Told them I knew they should have it by now because that's what they had said. I would call every day and get some excuse, like the doctor hadn't had time to read it. That Fri. I called first thing and said "I'm going to have that report, and I'm going to have it today!!" She meekly said "Your doctor isn't in today-- (she must have heard the "pot boiling")--but we'll have the attending doctor read it." That afternoon they were making me an appt., sending me to the surgeon. And that was the end of that doctor! I wrote her a letter explaining why too. I asked her how she'd like to have a doctor make a big deal out of something to her and then not bother to get to the report, knowing darn well they had it or it was at their fingertips. I now have the one that had the time to read the report and like her. By the way, that all ended up with getting my thyroid out in Nov. 2001 because of an inconclusive test of one kind of cancer on both sides--but it ended up okay. I had a nodule removed in 1985 so it was just as well to get it out. But put the pressure on them. If for anyone else, ask when the report will be back to the doctor and then pester the living daylights out of them until you get it! They get busy and don't give a hoot. I'm usually the more "meek and mild" type of person, but they changed me that week! Also, I already had RSD and that has changed the way I handle things sometimes--usually not favorable! Actually, I think our trials help us to be the person we need to be. I had to stand up for my daughter who had ADHD, which helped me have more strength for other times, like this, that I had to be firm. Guest guest
After work today I stopped in at the urologist's office to see if I could get anywhere faster that way. My cell phone was dead, and didn't want to go home and call as I live 15 miles north of town, if they wanted to see me or get another specimen I didn't want to make a separate trip into town for it. The receptionist was nice and told me to take a seat, she'd get my chart and have a nurse come talk with me. Well the nurse came in with this attititude, half snotty/half condescending like I'm some little kid who doesn't understand the right way to do things! She asked why was I here, with this kind of pained look (maybe she was sitting down to lunch and I interrupted it?) then after I explained said the Drs weren't in, that my Dr was at lunch, and then asked if I had called, I said no, I just stopped by after work cause I was concerned and hoped they wd have my results back (knowing, thanks to you guys, that the Dr could get them if he didn't already have them). She acted like I had dropped in from Mars, like dropping by without calling was just way out of line! So I said would you please let the Dr know I came by and am concerned cause there is blood in my urine again? She informed me she would give the message to the PHONE NURSE, as if to point out once again the right way things should be done. So here I sit, at ten til 5:00, and no call back from the Dr, nothing. I am more than steamed and plan to tell the Dr I don't care much for the nurses' attitudes, acting as though it is such an imposition to help me, when I have been trying to find out why I have been having blood in my urine since OCTOBER!!!!!!! And unless I get better treatment in the future I will find a different urologist, I will not take any more disrespect from any Dr, nurse or any other staff, I am the one paying their bill, and I deserve respect, courtesy and consideration. I have always bent over backwards to be kind to other people, I know I am not the only patient, and I have always tried to follow the rule to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. But these past months have taught me that if you do not speak up and demand attention you will be old and gray and still waiting, and I refuse to just sit back and accept rudeness and unreasonable delays when it comes to my healthcare any more! I did call the nurse manager at the pain clinic and she said she wd call and try to get the results today, but I may have to sign for them due to the new HIPPA, if so I'll do that first thing when I go to the pain clinic tomorrow and she will fax it over and have them fax the results back to her. So, looks like I will get the news tomorrow, cross your fingers for me! I have been horribly constipated for months now, and still have problems even taking 2-3 stool softeners/laxatives a week, and if the CT scan doesn't show another reason, I wonder if it could be that since I am so dehydrated, when I strain to have a BM could my tissues be tearing?? Anyway, if no answers from urologist will be calling gynie pronto, but still don't think it is female organs as a tampon or pad remains white. Vag walls continue to feel irritated but no increased pn on urination and no pain in lower back or abdomen. Hubby did notice reading my Neurontin label that rare side effect is abnormal bleeding - maybe it is just my luck to have rare side effects, since this whole mess started with a rare reaction to the tetanus vaccine!!! WHATEVER is going on, I wish it would STOP!!! beth
Guest guest
I am the one paying their bill, and I deserverespect, courtesy and consideration. Beth, Amen, sister! I've walked in and asked for a nurse when I was at the clinic for something else, and not got that sort of treatment. Why should you have to call? It takes the same amount of time. Of course I never think of these things while they are happening, but it would have been downright funny if your cell phone hadn't been dead to sit right there and call the PHONE NURSE while the sassy nurse was out there! It was so inappropriate, and I agree with you about telling the doctor how she acted. I know office staff probably doesn't want to tell on others, but would the receptionist heard the conversation to confirm your statements? Especially since there would have been a chance they would have wanted a sample, it made perfect sense to stop by while you were in town. I'm glad that nurse manager is going to take some action. Please let us know when you find out something! Love,
Guest guest
OH Beth, you must be so fed up. I agree with JoAnn...If no response then head to the damned ER. This is ridiculous. I can't believe they treated you the way that they did. Barbara
