Guest guest
You poor sweet thing - something's definately not right and your doctors aren't " getting it " obviously. Most of the women here have experieced at least one (if not five or ten) Dr's who just don't know about our issues. I would recommend that you go to the " links " on the left side of this board to start your research. The files are great also. Not sure about the bacterial infections (I've only had one) - if that's what you really even have BUT I know all about yeast - and YES it can be prevalent in your entire body (those dip sticks). There are home remedies that work in the links and files. Stay with this group - I'm guessing that others will post with some better ideas than mine - I'm a relative " newbie " only had this for seven months or so - although I've had yeast problems all of my life. That alone is a sign that something is wrong - the body's balance is off. Good luck and wishing you pain free days ahead. Love Molly

I do understand constant pain and no relief. The same thing happened to me years ago and all the doctors kept treating me for yeast or bacterial. None of it worked very long. To this day I really don't know what happened, but one of my recent gyns suggested that I could have had an initial herpes outbreak. I do have genital herpes along with vulvar lichen planus. The vlp makes me very red and inflamed and if untreated, I am miserable. Please see if your doc can check you out for herpes, vlp or vulvar lichen schlerosis. If not, see if you can find a vulvar specialist in your area or a good dermatologist who is familiar with all this. You could also be allergic to something. Please check out the other groups on LP and LS. There is so much info from fellow sufferers out there. We all learn from each other. I finally found a vulvar specialist after suffering for 40 years with no answers all much relief. Go to the links page as well. Good luck and don't hestitate to ask questions of any of us. Guest guest
, you don't say in your post whether your doc had a culture grown when you present with these problems. Sometimes only a culture is going to give the answer. And, if after all this time, she hasn't done a culture - you might need to find a new doc. A wet mount is NOT a definitive test for yeast or some other disorders. If you have taken long term Diflucan, then the odds are that you either don't have yeast or you have a strain of yeast that cannot be cured by Diflucan and requires a different brand of antifungal. You need a culture done looking for yeast and if yeast IS present, an identification of the STRAIN of yeast you have. Then you will know for sure which antifungal to use, if there is any yeast infection present. The lab should also be asked to look for any other kind of infection in the sample. Tell your doc that you would also like to be tested for HPV, Herpes, trich., chlamydia etc. Some of these things lie dormant, or unnoticed by the carrier for a very long time, until they finally rear their heads and become chronic. Be firm with your doc. Tell her that you don't want to suffer like this anymore and you want these tests and then you want copies of all your test results. If she says she has tested you for any of these things already - ask for copies to see the results yourself. If she says she has had your swabs cultured to idenitify the yeast, ask for a copy of that also - and when you get it, google it and see what cures it. Shame on her if she is treating you with a drug which doesn't work. Google bacterial infections and see if there is a drug stronger or better than Metrogel. Perhaps, if you really do have BV, the medicine has been strong enough or taken long enough to erase all the remnants of bacteria. Read what you can on the pH balance of the vagina and try to improve that balance if it is out of whack. What helped me with yeast was drinking the Probiotic drink Danactive, sold in health food stores and in some grocery stores. It took several weeks of drinking it, but suddenly things were better and even my doc commented that my white cell count in my vaginal swabs was very much improved. Take charge and make a list of things you want done to rule out or in as possible causes of your problems. Good luck and keep us posted. Dusty First post Hi ~ I am a 28 yr old wife and mother of two from NC, USA~ I am here in search of help, hope, support, advice....I have been suffering from chronic yeast/bacterial infections for the past 6 yrs...I ying yang back and forth between yeast and bacteria and never have any good days where I have normal vaginal flora going on. It is so miserable and frustrating. I have taken long term courses of diflucan (which is good for nothing my opinion) and other anti- fungals. There have been a few times where I call my obgyn crying from misery and go in and she does a wet mount and it is actually baterial for which we treat it with metrogel, an antibacterial gel that is a worrisome 7 day treatment and my life does not improve quickly.....I have done all the right things, like not wear anythign but cotton undies, I do not wear anything there at night, I do not take baths (only showers) I do not douche, I do not use perfumed soaps...etc....I do not wear tight clothes....I have at a loss. I feel like my obgyn has thrown her hands up with me and says that this is just soemthing that I will have to live with and we will have to treat all the time. I probably had about 30 infetions last year but with some of them lasting a week or so over time it seems like one infection runs into the next and i never have a good day. I have a very basi vaginal flora I think....the discharge is very thin and white and annoying. I discharge all day long. I try to stay ahead of the infection and only treat when necessary. I did not stay ahead of whatever is going on right now because my vagina is very angry and red and mad and it hurts! I treated with the new monistat 1 day ovule monday night and it felt like acid was draining out of me for the next few days and what I treated as a mild yeast infection is now a severe and awful infection...I am wonderign if it is bacterial because these are the same symptons and pains i had about year ago when I went to the ER and my obgyn was closed.....was prescribed metrogel and was better a few days later. I did some metrogel last night even tho I had done the monistat 3 nights before but I had to do something. The itching is now awful, and i feel swollen and do not want to wear any clothes at all. I feel the need to bath all the time....I just want to know what else I can try. I have mentioned systemic candida to my docs and they just laugh it off and imply that i have spent too much time surfing the internet. I know they have just been addressing the symptons but not the problems and if their vagina felt like this they would know hwo I feel. I am miserable and want to cry. My husband tried to be udnerstanding but this has had detrimental effects on our sex life and ultimately our marriage, because on days like today when I do not feel good at all, it comes out in my attitude and i get really down and hopeless. the woman he married was healthy and vivacious and happy and now i feel old, helpless, and broken. I told him he I would understand if he traded me in, I don't know if I can be fized. I need HELP! Guest guest
Going on estrogen is what finally brought my ph to normal. Until then, I was always 6.5 or higher. I agree with everything else pointed out here. You need to take some action, and possibly find another doctor. I hope you will see improvement soon. Warmly, Anne in TX Subject: RE: First post , you don't say in your post whether your doc had a culture grown when you present with these problems. Guest guest
- You probably have Pelvic Floor Dysfunction/Vulvodynia you can get help, the discharge you experience may not be yeast or bacterial, BUT normal? It is just your nerves in the vulvar area are so inflammed it appears to mask an infection. You might want to consider a vulvar specialist or run this by your OB Doctor. I had the same thing, and it turned out I have the above pfd, and vulvodynia.....and I am currently in physical therapy and taking Lyrica and a very low dose of methadone for Pain..... on the road to recovery hopefully ( : > > Hi ~ I am a 28 yr old wife and mother of two from NC, USA~ I am here > in search of help, hope, support, advice....I have been suffering > from chronic yeast/bacterial infections for the past 6 yrs...I ying > yang back and forth between yeast and bacteria and never have any > good days where I have normal vaginal flora going on.
