Guest guest
Well, I've been reading the book backwards and forwards. I picked it up last night before bed and read a bit. It had flipped open at the page that discusses finger sticks, so naturally I read that part first because I'm still trying to get my pads to heal so I can work again. Tired of typying on the tips of my fingernails, but I guess I'm lucky they're long enough that I can do this! His comments on using the backs of the fingers for sticks and not needing to cleanse with alcohol intrigued me. I'm still retaining fluids and waking up with swollen fingers as a result, so there's a lot more there to work with than usual, if you know what I mean. I tried the back this morning, and it worked great.....oh joy! And the fingers have become dry and cracked due to all the swabs of alcohol. Does anyone else use the backs of their fingers and disregard the alcohol cleanse? He also has several mentions about pancreas burn-out in different chapters, and since this is what has happened to me, I was curious to see what he had to say about it. So far, it's fascinating reading and I love his simple, straightforward way of walking you through each section....instead of something full of so much medical jargon that you're sitting there in puzzlement, scratching your head with a medical dictionary on your lap. I plan to sit down and read it properly, from front to back, within the next few days. Thanks for the tip. Heidi Type 1, 12 days
