Guest guest Posted April 1, 2004 Report Share Posted April 1, 2004 Dear Group, I went to my doctors today, and he told me what everyone was telling me i was having. Yes its the big D. Depression. Diabetic Neuropathy, RSD Etc. should I tell you more. Thanks to Barbara and jo, and tonia, N. and others who have supported me on what was going on with me and I did not know. My doctor looked into my eyes, and told me in front of my face, '' YOU WILL DIE IF YOU DONT CONTROL WHAT IS GOING ON'' Well, the big D is what I never had, I never had Diabetic problems, and when you combine it with RSD one of the medical groups will win out and your gone. So many people on this posting probably saved my life last night. I know i forwarded that e mail I recieved from Florida Hospital last year, you all saw what we all see, " WHAT IS RSD". I hope some you wrote to the hospital in support for RSD patients. we all have that right to be heard and be treated. Now I kow felice who lives a couple of hours north of me here in Florida was telling about the benefits here in Florida. Florida is so messed up in each county. In my County in my position you cannot get into an HMO, there arent any, they all packed up and left a few years ago. now when you go medically needy program each county has there own set of rules. If I go back to Miami, I can get into any program that I want with a lot of benefits, or to Tampa, Orlando etc, But here in Highlands County Nill as they call it. Now my oldest son who lives in East Tennessee, told me that have a Ten Care program for everyone that needs health insurance, but it is poorly run. The way I see it, id the country is running on the same pattern as I see it going, you will have to leave the country and come back in and you will get everything. My hat goes off to everyone that wrote me last night. God Bless all of you. I dont know how it is in other states of medically needy, because I live where it is described as Rural. Rural area's really dont get much unless per capita there are millionares there but its all poor, than the state says what to pay for medically needy in that county. It seems all the fedral grant money is going to Miami and other big cities where you have county hospitals, we dont have a county hospital. I know because I am on Medicare Disability, and I am under 65, so in this County of Highlands I cannot get any supplements for medicare but in Tampa, Miami, Orlando you can. Medicaid and Medicare are totally two different programs. I am over 50, so I am a member of AARP, but if I tell them I live in Highlands County, they tell me no to supplements, I have to move north out of this state. Every County, Every State, has different rules. I know it really stinks. But its not going to get better. Maybe I should have gone to the ER last night, but I would be yelled at for not having $150.00 deposit as they are not supported by the public. They will take you to court if you dont pay those bills, if you dont have the medicare supplement they sue you big time in this county. Thats why Florida Hospital has to put in its place. Esp the one where I live Florida Hospital Heartland Division in Sebring, they have a brand new hospital of 5 years old, but if you go be prepared. You might be dead while you where there, better to stay home and die ?. The medical system now is a joke this country is loosing its battle, but our RSD group is very strong, lets do something together like you helped me and others we have to stand tall against these idiots who denie us benefits. Guest guest Posted April 1, 2004 Report Share Posted April 1, 2004 Jan, I really hope that your doctor did more than just talk. Like, did he put you on any antidepressants to help out? Or, if you was already on them, did he raise the dose or add another one to boost their benefits? At one time, I was on 3 different antidepressants....so I do know that you can be on more than 1 at a time and that there are some that helps the others out. Also, did he do anything about your other meds that may help any? And, did he mention by any chance, anything about maybe going in and talking to a Psychiatrist once a week, every other week or once a month? I think that it would really help you if you was able to talk to someone regularly, to get stuff off your mind.....and that would be able to watch you when you go in, to see if your meds are working fine, or if they need switched, upped or whatever. I'm glad that we was able to help you last night though! That is what a support group is for......and I'm really glad that there was enough of us online last night that was able to be here for you! If you are appearing suicidal in IL any professional has to report it and make sure you get help. If I hadn't voluntarily agreed to go to the hospital, my psychologist would have had to call the police/ambulance. So it's just as well that I made the decision. Is there a reason why you can't move to an area where you can get help since you don't have your home anymore? But if someone is cutting themselves but you're not bleeding, they send you home! (that's what I was told by a doctor) I haven't done that and don't plan to. Anyway, I'm glad you at least saw a doctor today--just wish he would do more for you. I got my letter written that my psychologist suggested doing, since reason flies out the window when I'm so depressed. I was talking to my assoc. pastor about it and said "what am I supposed to do, write "Dear Me?" She suggested writing it as if God is writing it to me, like "remember when you were in FL and talked to the guy whose son had committed suicide and you saw his pain? Remember hearing Tom cry when..., what have I said to you through my Word (and write out the Scripture)?" You get the point. I made a copy for having if I'm in the car, and one for in the house. I'm thankful others were here to help you make it through, and now you know what is wrong and can work on fixing it. That is terrible about your county, I didn't know they were all different in Florida. I know this has been mentioned many times but is there any possible way you can move? I understand we need to fight to get programs to help people everywhere but it sounds to me like you can't wait to win this fight, you need to help yourself Now first and foremost. Then you will be more able to fight the RSD battle. Does this make any sense? Please put yourself first for the moment and find a way to get the help you need. Hope you have a great day today.
