Hi ,

My son is now 5 and it is certainly easier to look back and say what

would have been best.

The first year of pre-school I would have done it the same way. Lots

of play dates and exposure to new situations and environments. I

didn't do any organized activities like Gymboree b/c at that point he

hated that type of structured play.

The second year I opted not to put him in a regular pre-school the

other 1/2 of the day. In retrospect I probably should have tried it

but I listened to his teachers who thought that might have been too

much for him. They may or not have been right but I should have

tried. Instead he played soccer, did gymnastics, private speech and

more recently taking classes at the YMCA. Those activities were great

for his fine and gross motor skills. I also continued with lots of

play dates.

I don't think there is any right or wrong plan, it really depends on

the child. You don't want to overload her either. Follow her queues

and try not to overload yourself either!

denise in NJ also

Mom to 5 and 3 going on 10!
