Hi

First off you could visit http://www.drstordy.com which will have some relevant

Q & As for you. She wrote 'The LCP Solution' (my bible) You can also email a

question question@.... Sorry, but I've lent my copy to a friend - but

her site is worth a visit anyway.

Have you considered flaxoil as an alternative? There'll be a good lot of posts

in this group about flax. It may also be worth searching 's SpeechDiet

group.

Good Luck

[ ] allergy/ProEFA question

Hi,

I'm starting to read about ProEFA, and would love to try this with my

kids...but the problem is I have a severe allergy to shellfish, and the

allergist advised me to avoid all fish. The kids' allergist wants me to

avoid all fish for the kids as well till they are at least 3 yrs old since

they've already had food allergies (eggs, squash), there is a high

incidence of food allergies in my family, and based on my fish allergy.

Is there anything other than fish oils that I can use that have a similar

effect? And hey, I'd like to try it for myself too!

Thanks so much!

Hi,

Actually when you are allergic it is usually to the protien in the offending

allergen so that even individuals who are allergic to fish should still be

able to take fish oil supplements because oils should have no protein in

them.

Maybe you can give it a cautious try...

The thread about reflux and delayed speech really caught my eye. I have

always suspected that my son is speech delayed because of allergies. Reflux

in babies and enlarged adenoids are common allergy signs as I understand it.

I would wonder how common it is for allergic children to be speech delayed.

Like the speech delay is a part of the " Brain Allergy " I read about. (sorry

I forget the author) Anyone else have experience with nontraditional

allergy and speech delay?

It would make sense for EPAs to help with the allergy component because of

their antiinflammatory abilities.

Inge,

Hi! I'm Cate's mom and I put the question out there about the reflux. We

just got out of the hospital today. We went in yesterday to have her adenoids

out and the Dr. called from the OR and said that her tonsils were also huge

and he wanted to go ahead and take those out too. Of course I let him.

Everything went well but he said that her adenoids were blocking her nasal

passages by 75% and that her tonsils were almost touching they were so big.

I'm curious as to whether having enlarged adenoids and/or tonsils that

interfere with " normal " breathing might be a possible cause of apraxia. Any

thoughts on this? Happy New Year to everyone.

Hi

This caught my eye because my girl (4.11 verb & oral dysprax) sounds incredibly

adenoidal to me. I'm not aware of her being allergic to anything (yet) but does

anyone have any ideas how I might track this?

Incidentally - mine were removed when I was 7 in combination with a tonsilectomy

- inherited trait?

Happy 2003 to all

Hi -

They can't " cause " apraxia, which is a wiring problem, but they

certainly could interfere with correct vocalization. I guess now

that you've corrected the problem that you'll have to wait and see!!

Good luck and keep us posted -
