Guest guest
HI Jo, Here in Florida when the older folks see you park in Handicapped they stand and watch you get out f the car, as if that's how they can tell if you are handicapped or not. Of course that works only if you are in a wheel chair or have a cane. I know that there are a lot of people with handicaps that are not visible, like a heart or lung problem or like a lot of us RSD people who can't walk far. When I was new to handicapped parking I even yelled at a couple who stopped behind my car and waited for me to get out. I started to just walk away but they really got on my nerves so I said in a very loud voice "Do I look handicapped enough for you? Can I park with your blessing now?" I think if they could have run to their car they would have and I must confess it really did fell good. LOL Felice
Guest guest
Here in Florida when the older folks see you park in Handicapped they stand and watch you get out Felice, They do that here in NJ, too. I look " normal " I guess. I've had way too many people have the nerve to ask me what my handicap is! I very nicely (LOL) show them my Handicapped ID, then proceed to tell them about RSD. I don't know how smart that is, because I'm not very tall, and besides, I'm handicapped! No one has tried to hit me yet, though, they just stand there and take it! LOL I do it mostly for the next handicapped person who doesn't look handicapped. I'm sure the people I've " educated " will NEVER ask anyone else about their handicap just because they can't see it. Guest guest
Hi Guys, I use to get mad when people would gawk at me when I parked in handicap , waiting to see if I limp or whatever. Sometimes even if I feel I need to limp, I don't just to spite them,. lol I ordered handicapped parking tickets from the registry of motor vehicles. I keep them in my glove compartment and use them when I can't believe that people without a handicapped plate park They come in a note pad that you tear off one at a time. I place the 'ticket' under the wiper, it looks real, I forget exactly what it says but basically tells the driver I had to walk long distances because of their lack of consideration and ignorance. I have also gone to the service desk of stores and have police give a ticket, I believe they are $50.00 tickets. It use to get me so mad when I would get out of my car and see no Handi-plate on the car in the handicapped parking space so, these 'tickets' make me feel better! Guest guest
Here is Florida the ticket is $250.00. When my mom was down she drove me to a doctor's appointment, and we forgot to put the tag on my mirror. So of course I got a ticket...oops! All I had to do was send them a copy of my current handicap registration and a $5.00 processing fee, and it was all cleared up thankfully!
