Guest guest
Hi Lori, The therapist said that this is still experimental and doesn't think it will work but at least this DR was willing to try something. After four therapies the PT came out and when he saw how swollen the first was, worse than when we started, he said no more. I told him I didn't care if it hurt if he thought it might be helping but he said he did and would call the doctor and tell him it hadn't worked. I am very disappointed. The whole bottom of the foot has swollen up through the heel. The very bottom has the ridges that are about a one-eighth inch high and runs the width of the foot from the ball of the foot to the start of the heel. The PT said this is swelling. They are kind of hard to the touch, light touch! It is really torture to walk on the foot when it is like this. Has anyone experienced this kind of swelling? Guest guest
Felice, I am so sorry that the therapy did not work, but am glad they stopped it if it was only causing you pain and made you worse off. I know how you feel about "at least they are doing something" as I"ve been sitting around for months doing nothing, no treatment at all, just increasing my meds. I'm ready to scream. I went to a new neurologist today and got the usual "it doesn't look like the typical RSD". If one more person tells me that I'm going to scream. I Know it doesn't, I'm like backwards...instead of cold area mine is hot. He wants to see all my test results to make sure they tested for every infection, etc. I'm so tired of it but I understand. He's going to review my records and I have to go back in 3 weeks, see if he can help me. As for the swelling, I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about but I have "hard" areas above my knee like almost to my thigh. The started small but are not bigger areas that are hard to the touch, like under the skin. Is this what you mean? Nobody has been able to tell me what they are, but they were the first signs I had beside pain that something was really wrong. Anyway, I hope they can come up with some other kind of treatment for you, I know how frustrating it is to feel like nobody is doing anything to help you get better. Hang in there and keep me posted on how things go, if the swelling goes away, etc. Talk to you soon. <hugs> Lori
Guest guest
It is hard to say what is happening. There's the fibro, the arthritis and the neuropathy, all having up and down days. My first treatment was Tuesday and I have had no electrical shocks in my feet since then. That is a definite positive. I am able to go ten minutes on their exercycle, from basically zero. I actually feel a bit stronger in my calves. And, to my sorrow, I seem to feel every little bit of kitty litter that winds up on the floor. Tomorrow we shall see how the new roomba vac deals with that. The burning continues unabated, and maybe somewhat worse. However, I intend to stick with it. This week I will have three treatments. And then none again for two weeks because I will be away. Joe will be having surgery the last week in Sept, so all is up in the air right now. Timewise. As far as determination goes, I will go back and have more therapy. Helen
Guest guest
Helen, it's good to hear that you're making at least a little improvement. However... I have one thing to say about the kitty litter: HOUSE SHOES. At Diabetes Education they were very, very, very insistent that diabetics, especially those with any sort of neuropathy in their feet, should not go around barefoot. Even in our own homes, there's no telling what's been tracked in that the vacuum might have missed! In my area (Central Texas) there's also the chance of finding a scorpion. Reduced circulation in the feet combined with not feeling injury and being slow to heal can add up to the potential for an amputation. Please be very, very, very careful!
