Guest guest
I was taking 2 Benadryl with 5mg of Melatonin and it worked like a charm. Saw my rheumy last Friday and she said not to take anymore Benadryl and then gave me a prescription for Amitriptyline 10mg a very low dosage. She said it s an anti-depressant but it is also used for treating fibro. When I told her about the constant migraines/severe headaches and how I was concerned about them, she said it was from the fibro and that I would have to get medicine for that from my regular doctor. If she's my rheumy and she's treating my fibro, and the migraines are from the fibro, then why do I need to make another appointment with another doctor for pain medicine to treat this? I also told her how I constantly feel like I'm getting a bladder infection, but it comes and goes. Very painful. She said this is also from the fibro? I miss my Benadryl. It was suggested to me but I wanted to here the opinions of the group? tips for improving sleep, LOL Hello, This subject heading wasn't not meant to be funny. But that's ok if you still want to make funny statements. I put the LOL after my list of sleeping tips because most of them don't work for me right now. I am sipping my apple cider vinegar though. Guest guest
Wow , You must be a large man to tolerate such a large dose of amitriptyline. I can only tolerater 20-30mg at most. It doesn't control my pain either but supposed to help me sleep. Guest guest
susan, did you ask the rheumy why you should not take the benadryl? i have also heard that phenergan can help you sleep too someone was saying. i think that is an over the counter thing you give babies isnt it? i found the 10mg of amitripyline did nothing for me and 20mg only worked for the first night and now on 30mg , last night slept some but not sure how the second night will go tonight. that is odd that the rheumy didnt give you a script though hey. wendy > > I was taking 2 Benadryl with 5mg of Melatonin and it worked like a charm. > Saw my rheumy last Friday and she said not to take anymore Benadryl and > then > gave me a prescription for Amitriptyline 10mg a very low dosage. Guest guest
, I'm surprised a doctor hadn't said something to you before aobut daily use of Benadryl. Long term use of benadryl and other " first generation antihistamines " can be dangerous. Here's an article I found for you to read..... " First generation antihistamines are potent ways to block the effects of histamine in your respiratory system. There's no doubt they are very effective. That's the good part. However, they are easily absorbed into the fluid surrounding your brain. There are actually histamine sites in the brain, and these older antihistamines hook right on to those sites, just like they hook on to the sites in your nose and make it stop running. Guest guest
She said that Benadryl had a " rebound " effect? As for the reason she didn't give me a script, I have come to believe that these doctors are in cahoots LOL!!! The clinic I go to is SIU Family Practice (through Southern Illinois University) and my general doctor is a first year resident. It's like a training ground. They have " real " doctors like my rheumy and The Residents. They all work hand in hand and then you are billed by SIU Physicians and Surgeons etc. I don't have health insurance, and I suspect with my diagnosis of Fibro that every complaint I have now, will be attributed to Fibro? When I mentioned to her about the bladder discomfort, she smiled and said it was from the Fibro. When I told her about the sharp pains in my head, the migraines, etc.... same reaction. So now I go to my general doctor on Wednesday, the 11th for medicine to help with the migraines. In one book I read about Fibro, it mentions how some people will feel like they have to urinate up to 30 times a day and this is supposed to be common? My oldest daughter, who has been diagnosed with Fibro, told me that there are times she feels like she has a yeast infection, she has the pain, but no discharge... she takes all the medication but it doesn't work, because it's not a yeast infection. Just pain from the Fibro. O. -- Re: tips for improving sleep, LOL > > Has anybody tried Melatonin supplements to improve sleep?
