<< I am thrilled I am pregnant. But I am also lost. I dont know what to

expect.

I dont know what it is my body is doing half the time. I have read several

books (WTE and Girlfriend's Guide) but I need to hear from you all what you

are going through. >>

I read these, too... and felt exactly the same way you describe. It's all a

distant, faded memory for me, however... heheh ... seriously, pregnancy was a

bewildering experience for me. My likes, dislikes, EVERYTHING was different,

like someone switched operating systems on me or something. I felt like my

bones were held together with melted rubber bands. Even today my lower back

hasn't completely recovered from the assault. I was amazingly emotional, with

wide swings. Milk tasted JUST like you describe, like pudding or something,

and I couldn't even stand the skim stuff. One of my biggest cravings was

green chili salsa. I haven't had it ONCE since I had the baby, and don't even

feel like trying it. I also wanted citrus things (except orange), but I

haven't wanted THAT since, either. I had headaches often, especially at the

beginning and at the end. My belly itched HORRIBLY and I got NEW stretch

marks in new places to go along with the old ones from being at a BMI 50.

Tiredness gets better? I keep getting told to deal with it because I will be

tired until the baby comes and then afterward!!!!!!! I can only hope I get a

second wind and more energy.

Thank you thank you thank you for writing! This is what I need to know. That

everything I am going through is normal because from how quiet the list was

... or seemed to be until I started whining .. I was thinking I was the only

one going through this.

The best way for me to describe it is that I feel like I am third month out

from surgery again and I need to learn about my body (AGAIN) so that it

doesn't turn on me. If it turns on me I get sick and strive to make friends

with it again. Skim milk at this juncture seems okay but I have only been on

it since about 1pm today but it is treating me better than the 2% did!

I am 9 weeks and I can relate. I am sooooooooo tired all the time. I get home

at 5 in the evenings and I come straight in... speak to the animals and lay down

on the couch and sleep for 3 hours. YES 3 hours!!!! I get up and do all my

routine stuff and in bed by 11pm. I have gained 6 pounds since finding out I am

pregnant. I have not had any cravings and about the only thing I have changed

as far as what goes into my mouth is milk. So go figure. This is my first and

all the annoyances so far have been bearable and welcome.. Except maybe the

constipation!! grrrrrrrr and to top that off my OB put me on extra iron

tablets as well..... GRRRRRR lol

Hugs!

I've had plenty of cravings and have followed through on most of them, but

combined with nausea constantly, I've lost 4 pounds. I'm still wearing my

size 8 clothes and they are only slighty snug around my belly. I'm 7 1/2

weeks along. All I can say is thank goodness I can't eat sugar or lactose!

That's my only saving grace! LOL

Well, I'll tell you about my cravings, since I just read your post on them.

I've been craving warm things like soups, hot pastas with marinara sauce.

I've also been craving fat-free yogurt, fruit, crackers, bagels with cream

cheese and lox, salads. I eat very healthy and try not to eat any fried

foods. I can't eat very much at one time anyway, because I get nauseous. I

graze all day, which I think has increased my metabolism. Besides,

pregnancy will increase your metabolism anyway. This is my 2nd pregnancy,

so ask me any questions you like.

  • 2 weeks later...

hi jenna

thanks for the info. we had quite a debate over the lox at work.

they just used the doppler thing to find the heartbeat. they didnt do an

ultrasound actually. that will be ordered next time. i am 12 weeks now. i

weigh 245 now. he said that it was kinda early to find the heartbeat this

way and even in some very thin women they have trouble at this time.

thanks for the help.

I'm surprised they even tried to find a heartbeat through doppler that

early. Usually you can't even hear it until 12 weeks. I hope it didn't

worry you. Please let us know when you have your sonogram.
