Guest guest
Congratulations, Benita! I, too, just found out (Friday) that I'm pregnant, about 3 weeks. We'll be having October babies! It looks like from this list there will be quite a few October babies. That's hilarious what your husband is calling himself. My husband just said, See, my boys can swim! LOL. When we got pregnant last summer before my August miscarriage, we had just started trying, and BAM, I was pregnant like instantly. The same thing this time, too! Actually we only were intimate like 3 or 4 times last month (highly unusual), but, again, BAM, I was pregnant. He looked at me and said you're a fertile critter, aren't you? I said what did you call me?! He said a fertile critter. LOL. I do have a personal question to ask. I have a VERY hard time going to the bathroom. What is a safe laxative, or whatever, to use while pregnant? Also, I'm on Prenate vitamins. Should I still take my regular daily vitamin, Centrim? Should I still drink protein shakes? I don't see my OB doc until next week for the first time and am curious about some of these things. Thanks! Tammy in Alabama

First thing to do: try not to worry!! Next: I'd avoid aerobics just until your doc gives you the go-ahead. Nutrasweet is a NO NO, limit your sugar intake too. Caffeine is a NO NO until the second trimester, then only limited. I really like the book " What To Expect WHen You're Expecting " , but I know that some people don't like it because it gives so much information that it scares them. I just like to know things, so I liked it a lot. Take it easy, and take care of yourself. I am so happy for you!! -Kris

I don't know if there's a truly safe laxative; you might try increasing your fiber (or taking a FiberCon or something). Don't take your regular Centrums while you're taking the prenatals... that can REALLY cause you to be constipated!! Most books say don't drink protein shakes and stuff like that, but it's because pregnancy itself is kind-of hard on your kidneys, and so are protein shakes. If you drink lots of water and if the shakes aren't full of other additives and stuff, it should be okay. Of course, you need to follow your OB's advice first and foremost. : ) -K
Guest guest
Lenore, I gave up soda when I had my surgery, I've had a few in the last 14 months, but it's easy to say no to them. I pretty much just drink water and decaf herbal tea during these cold nights. I need to go see a doctor now, just trying to let it all set in. I love my aqua aerobics, I'll probably pass on the power aqua though, a lor of jumping. Thanks for the info. Guest guest
Additives like caffeine... some of the chocolate ones may contain that... or saccharine. I wouldn't worry; do what you normally do and then ask your doc. Adding the water is a VERY good idea! I need to increase my intake, too... here I am a three-year post-op and I still have to be prodded. LOL -K Benita Pautz wrote: > Kris, > > I've always had my protein shakes since surgery. I know they say to wait until your 3 months, but I just can't, and I'm just having a positive attitude that everything is fine. I sent an aunt and uncle Valentine card to my sister and her husband today. She is pregnant right now and is due in the beginning of August, so we'll have lots to talk about! Lets see this year is going to be busy. A bridal shower in May for my other sister, her wedding in june, the baby shower for my sister in July, baby in August, my baby shower in September and my baby in August! Guest guest
Tammy- when I found out I was pregnant and I started on the Prenates- I was still taking my GNC Ultra Mega Gold too... until I read that to much vitamin A can cause birth defects- and between my 2 vitamins I was getting over 10,000 units of A - so for the first trimester I took half a pill of my GNC and then my Prenates. Now I've been on my prenates only for the last 4 months and my vitamin levels are great. I do intend to go back to the NC vitamins after the baby is born because i intend to breastfeed and the GNC vitamin is far superior in the vitamin B's than the Prenate's and there has been some articles saying patients of RNY Gastric Bypass breastfeed babies tend to have lower levels of Vitamin B- so I'm hoping if my levels of vitamin Bs are great- so will my breast milk. But as far as pregnancy goes- the Prenates are superior in suppling certain vitamins that most regular multivitamins don't. But - you should ask your doc. Good Luck and Congradulations! a Sisson almost 7 months! Guest guest
hooray!!! congratulations!!! julie POSITIVE TEST!! Well add me to the group of expecting. I gave up doing these home tests, I did the Fact Plus yesterday with my first morning urine and barely saw a line, then I looked at the website somebody posted and saw it was at the bottom of the list for effectiveness so I just went to my doctor and found out about 4:00 yesterday that I'm pregnant. I was in shock, I thought I was, but it was weird to hear it from the nurse. I just said what do I do now? So I have to talk to my doc to get a referral to an OB Gyn. I'm only about 2 weeks pregnant, haven't even told my side of the family yet, want to do it in person. I did tell my mother-in-law last night. We took her out to dinner and I had bought a grandchildren frame and made up a paper on my computer that said Baby Pautz ETA 10/30/2001 (my date figured by counting 40 weeks from when they said I was most fertile). She was very excited. My husband is running around calling himself super sperm. Now to my questions! What should I avoid doing? Nutrasweet? Can I still do aqua aerobics? Am i supposed to restrict my lifting? Any help would be so appreciated. And prayers for a healthy baby would be much appreciated too! Benita Children are a reward from the Lord. Guest guest
ok, sorry. no we are not new mommies and it not time to conceive yet. i was pregnant and yes, i knew i was but just not admitting it yet. i kept getting positive tests and i was gonna do another test wed morning ( my birthday) and didnt feel good and kristen got up late and we had to leave so didnt do one again. by the time i got home i was feeling worse and went to the bathroom to find a load and a half of blood. i didnt want to call the clinic and find out for sure so i kept telling myself that it was just a heavy visit but finally had to go in. he said thats what had happened. now i am just trying to deal with it. this is horrible to say, and the good lord may strike me down but i didnt want this baby.....it was too soon...yet i hoped it would be so. now i feel so horribly guilty i cant stand it any more. now i want to have another baby but the doc said that i had to wait till kristen is at least 9 months because of the csection and the chances of rupture. that and i dont heal well at all. so...i was 6 weeks pregnant and miscarried. kristen is 5 1/2 months so it isnt that long but forever when you WANT something. sorry, just not in my right mind but getting there : ) hope this helps. julie Re: POSITIVE TEST!! >> >> >>Congratulations, Benita! Guest guest
no, i didnt say anything. i had to deal with it myself first but now it feels good to be able to talk about it. i just look at kristen and start crying wondering what that baby would be like etc, etc. its not fair to her either but it is slowly getting better. the thing that helped the most i think is when i finally quit bleeding and not that constant reminder of what was happening. we didnt even tell anyone that i was pregnant. therefore, i didnt have anyone to help me through this. mike tries but guys just dont understand the impact i dont think. thanks though. do you finally feel like you will be ok after a while or am i losing it? i was thinking about calling my psychologist but wondering if i can do this alone...or at least with you guys to help. this happened about a month ago...what a way to start another year : ) thanks again. julie Re: POSITIVE TEST!! > > > > > >Congratulations, Benita! Guest guest
I didn't remember reading you were preg again. Had you posted that? That timing is just about when I wanna srtart trying again. It's interesting the pain of a mc even if you are just as happy to wait a bit longer for the next child. especially since it's so early in the preg. Not that I question it. I am sure it is incredibly difficult. Just interesting. Of course you know we are all glad to help. But twere it me I would see the shrink too. Can't have too much help facing the big challenges. Maybe give it a week or 2 and see if you need it. Go smile at kristen. Guest guest
Dear K: Yes! I understand. I lost our baby in June of this past year, and I think about it daily. It is especially hard when I see other babies, or other mothers pregnant. When my 18 year old daughter and I go shopping, I can't go near the baby section, it hurts just to much. I do hope that time will heal things, but this is a very slow process. The doctor does not feel I will getting pregnant again, but I still have that hope left in me. The greiving process is different for everyone, and your mother can not tell you how long, or how this should be done. Everyone is different. As long as your not obsessed with this, I think your doing great. This was a beautiful baby that you have lost, and being sad is very normal. I am glad that you have shared your feelings. a Diviney Re: POSITIVE TEST!! > Time does ease the pain, but I see things differently now than I did > before. Time does ease the pain, but I see things differently now than I did before. I wear a little pin that is a pair of little gold footprints that are the size of a ten-week-old pre-born baby, just to remember... I told my mom, and she tried to tell me that I shouldn't think like that (she had lots of miscarriages, and she dealt with them by forgetting about them), but I can't forget. I need to grieve and remember. I don't obsess, and there are days when I don't think about it at all, but I can't ever forget. -K > do you finally feel like you will be ok after a while or am > i losing it? i was thinking about calling my psychologist but wondering if > i can do this alone...or at least with you guys to help. this happened > about a month ago...what a way to start another year : ) > thanks again. > julie Children are a reward from the Lord.
