Wow! What a creative boy you have. He really used his resources, didn't he?

I am sure you are looking forward to your dh being home. I hope the time

goes quickly.

You can sound like our mother's! It is okay with me. You are trying to keep

our children safe and I appreciate the concern. I had to delete many posts

lately, so if you gave me an address that I can send that brachail plexis

injury info to, I missed it. I will look for it again. I see so many

needless injuries and deaths from simple, everyday, household stuff it makes

me sick. I feel that we have a fairly safe home for my kids, but I notice

that when other kids come over, I realize some problem areas. We still have

things to do, I appreciate the push.

That is so scary. I am so sorry. Thankfully he wasn't hurt. What a close

call. Zaid is so quiet when he is getting into trouble it really scares me. I

am glad he is alright.

Fire!

Totally not breastfeeding related, but my sweet, innocent 16 m/o son nearly

set himself on fire yesterday evening! He managed to pull a table chair

over to our gas stove without making any noise. It's not unusual though

for him to push chairs around in the kitchen, since normally, hes moving

them to be able to reach something on the table, or to see whats in the

sink... When I heard the stove " click " to light the burners, I raced into

the kitchen to meet my daughter standing in the doorway saying, " Look what

s doing! " to which I shouted MOVE! at least fifteen times. By the

time I could reach him, he had ignited a few things on the stove. After

dinner, I had moved the napkin holder onto the stove to wipe off the table

and hadn't put it back. All the napkins were in a blaze. A hotpad was

near the burner, and it was on fire. There was a magazine under the napkin

holder which also caught fire... and my son's shirt was smoldering but not

burning... AND, he got a nifty little " haircut " on his bangs!

We were all shaken up by the sight, and did get " clingy " for all of

20 minutes. I promptly called my DH who is in Texas and told him he had to

take the next flight home -- after all, he's a fire fighter! lol Too bad

the military doesn't see the urgency and need to keep families with young

children together!!

I would do anything at this point to have him home where I would be quite

pleased if all he did were to sit on the couch all day -- at least there'd

be one more pair of eyes to help " direct traffic " and keep my kids from

wandering to places they needn't be!!

After doing daycare for several years, I generally do leave a gate on the

kitchen entrance. However, here, it's in a central part of the house, and

divide the house almost... the kids have to go through it to get from the

living room to their bedrooms. At the time he did this, it was almost time

for them to go to bed, so I didn't have it gated. :/ Sharp objects are

actually in a locked drawer! Not a childproof cabinet lock, but a keyed

lock. My first child managed to find our knives and would take them

outside to play with!! I learned that lesson awfully fast.

I never knew that there was a bracket for the stove! Great idea!! Where

do you get them? Please tell me I can order them by mail. :)

And aquariums, too!

Thanks for the reminders!

Since we're on the subject of fire, I thought I'd tell you what I DID the

other night, which scared the pee out of me. I was sterilizing my breast pump

on the stove. Well, decided she was hungry, so I sat down to feed her

and read my e-mail. So about 30-45 minutes later all 3 of my smoke detectors

started going crazy! I had forgoten the pump and sat down and RAN to

the kitchen, MY OVEN WAS ON FIRE! Luckily I was able to put it out, and only

my sauce pan, pump, and stove was burnt. I was so scared and so thankful at

the same time that my smoke detectors warned me! and I were the only

ones home and I don't know what I'd done if the fire had been too out of

hand! My kitchen was and still is a mess. And to top it all off, yesterday

was my first anniversary. My dh was mad, just happy that nor I was

hurt. He says it was an accident. My just glad I'm so lucky to have an

understanding husband! Well, enough rambling.

Robin

Yes! Yeast! Totally didn't make that connection! My bad! So... have you

tried the marbles? Do you have a nifty solution to share?? :)
