Guest guest
Dear Ann, I have just finished reading every one of your posts and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your frankness in sharing what you have learned and your very good observations. My situation with my just turned 14 year old daughter is so similar. My daughter was hospitalized twice last January (8 days, home 2 weeks and then 18 days) for depression and suicidal ideations. She went to a day treatment program for 5 and 1/2 months and just graduated the program. Her main issue is anxiety and cutting (mostly arms but she did carve " I hate myself " into her stomach. She is on prozac 60 mg q day and buspar 15 mg twice a day. I read walking on eggshells and I hate you don't leave me and another book on borderline adolescents by eggshells press. They helped a lot. We have 4 other children ages 19,17, 15 and almost 13. They are all doing very well. So far my daughter has not used illicit drugs but she fits the profile to a tee. It is suck a huge relief to know that others are going through similar struggles and coping. This has been the most difficult 8 months of our 25 year marriage. We were on our way out of town for a night at a bed and breakfast 20 miles from our home a few weeks ago to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We got a frantic call from our oldest to tell us that the day treatment center had called and our 14 year old daughter had taken a piece of glass and cut herself on the hand. We called and spoke with and her therapist.
