Guest guest
I thought some of you might find this interesting. It ran on our local news this morning, and I truly could understand the poor woman's frustration of doctors not taking her seriously. A severely obese local woman had gone from doctor to doctor for over 12 years, complaining of various problems only to be told to lose weight. Although she told them that she had tried, that she had been on every diet, that she hardly eats enough to support her growing weight etc and she felt something was wrong... no doctor would bother running tests, just looked at her with disgust and told her to lose weight. Finally, a new doctor (a female doctor no less hmmm?) noticed the woman's information, medical history and complaints looked odd and ordered tests. They did surgery and removed a 93 pound tumor from her ovaries. It had started as an ovarian cyst at some point, many years ago and had been continuing to grow all of this time. Yes, I said 93 pounds.... ninety-three, as in almost 100 pounds of tumor mass attached to her ovaries! Can you believe such a thing can happen in this day and age, with all the medical advancements? It goes to prove that all those medical advancements, all those sophisticated tests etc don't mean a thing if the doctors won't have the common sense to take the patient seriously.
