Guest guest
My Homebirth was a lot of money, $3,500, and my insurance would not pay for it so it was money out of pocket...that was the other reason husband didn't want to do it (cheapo) LOL! Love, My 1st hospital birth was $800, we paid $80 of it, 2nd was $1200, we paid $120. Guest guest
Hannah, In my county we have a midwifery clinic that takes medical. ( state insurance for low income, it is horrible) The midwives there are pretty good and deliver in the local hospital. In most places though the women who can't afford it go to a general hospital where the oftentimes get substandard care (not always the case) and have the typical hospital experience, feeling very overwhelmed and alone. Guest guest
, Sorry it's MediCal not medical. It is the Ca. state welfare medical benefits. Wendi Re: Homebirths They get it covered through Welfare/the State Or they make payment plans with the doctor or hospital. In fact my BlueCross insurance would Not pay for my Homebirth, but Welfare will in Oregon. Kind of made me upset! Love,
Guest guest
<HTML> Here in MS the cost is appx $2000 for the DR and $4500 for the hospital. We also are not *allowed* to have home births, but there is an underground midwives assoc., but I don't know how to get in touch with any of them. <BR>jo <P>Wendi wrote: <BLOCKQUOTE TYPE=CITE>, <P>Did the hospital births include the prenatal or did that get paid separately. & nbsp; My first was in a birthcenter $3600 and 2nd at home $1800. & nbsp; Much more reasonable as it included all my prenatal except the labs. <P>Wendi <P> & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; & nbsp; Re: Homebirths <P> <P>My Homebirth was a lot of money, $3,500, & nbsp; and my insurance would not pay for <BR>it so it was money out of pocket...that was the other reason husband didn't <BR>want to do it (cheapo) LOL! <P>Love, <P>My 1st hospital birth was $800, we paid $80 of it, 2nd was $1200, we paid <BR>$120. Guest guest
Wow! My hospital birth for all three cost over $5,000 each time. My friend who had 3 homebirths spent $300 on each birth. I personally had to pay $25 for each of my births, and the military ins paid the rest, but if DH had been interested, Id have been happier with the $300 homebirth! Her midwife even stuck around to wash her bedsheets and help clean up for a few hours after the birth!!
