HI all,

From what I've read the Relegard seems to be an anti-infective and has in it

''Acetic acid/oxyquin sulf'' and I'm wondering if it's connected to a quinolone and a sulfa in it? No idea, and didn't have time for much of a search, but it does seem to be more for an infection, rather than lubrication or pH levels I 'think'.

Where the RepHresh is to keep our pH levels more in their normal state and it can maintain that for 72 hrs with a single application, so the lit. says. It also acts as a natural lubricant. I know that semen has a high pH, 7.8 -8.2 where the normal pH level for women is usually at <4.5 or less, and it mentions that semen can cause an odor simply because of that pH difference if one has unprotected sex so apparently this product can help that too.

Literature on the RepHresh says the key ingredient in RepHresh Vaginal Gel is polycarbophil, a patented bioadhesive polymer. I found this interesting for what it's worth and how that works for those who like a little more of the technical end of it. '..........*grin*

The Company (Columbia Laboratories, Inc.) has developed products for vaginal delivery of hormones and other drugs and buccal delivery of hormones and peptides.

The vaginal products they make adhere to the vaginal epithelium and the buccal (<--inside the cheeks or gums) products adhere to the mucosal membrane of the gum and cheek.

All formulated products of the company utilize the Bioadhesive Delivery System ("BDS") consisting principally of a polymer, polycarbophil, and an active ingredient.

The delivery is based upon the principle of 'bioadhesion', a process by which the polymer adheres to epithelial surfaces of the vaginal lining for (for 3 -5 days) and to mucin, a naturally occurring secretion of the mucous membranes.

The polymer remains attached to epithelial surfaces and/or the mucin and is ''discharged upon normal cell turnover'' or upon the detachment of the mucin from the mucous membranes, a physiological process which, depending upon the area of the body, occurs every 12 to 72 hours. This extended period of attachment permits the delivery to be utilized in products when extended duration of effectiveness is desirable or required. ..............
