Guest guest
Thanks for the detailed reply, Dee. So mycoplasma and ureaplasma are the same thing, but apparently mycoplasma hominis isn't the same as the mycoplasma pneumoniae I tested positive for? But it sounds like a promising lead, since so many of us (including me) have the combination of vulvar, bladder and bowel problems mentioned. In addition, I've been told I have borderline SLE, and my PAPs always come back " normal, " but with chronic cervical inflammation without HPV. (Maybe the source of the constant, irritating discharge?) It sounds as if you can have a very-expensive test, or simply take weeks and weeks of a potent antibiotic on the presumption that mycoplasma is the problem. That, of course, can lead to yeast problems. I suppose the best thing would be to have an immune system that simply overcomes any and all threats. Guest guest
HI Zig, That's what I think too l that the mycoplasma pneumnoia is a different type than the hominis, I think there are about 10 strains or types if I remember right. It does sound like a lot of your symptoms may be related. But like you said to take those antibiotics for any length of time might bring on yeast let alone they tell us not to because so many strains have become resistent. Although I know people who constantly take them for sinus infections (ironically my GP doctors son does) and he feels its ok, as if it's not a big deal if you need them. Antibiotics never caused me any problems (but rarely take them either) but we're all so different and I know they do bother many here on the list, so guess 'youse take yer chances' eh? By the way it's been suggested to do that if one had GERD... because that 'may' also be moreso the bacteria and it can be cured than to be forced with a diagnosis of Gerd for a lifetime and worth the try. (for what that's worth) Believe it or not Gerd may also be triggered by progesterone (birth control pills too) *sigh* I think I read too much, *grin*. Guest guest
Dee, I hear ya about reading too much, but, as I'm sure you've discovered, if your doctor doesn't keep up with things, SOMEONE has to! Interestingly, I do have GERD. But I've managed to pretty much eliminate it simply by not eating after 6 p.m. (No more before-bedtime snacks!) Guest guest
I have mine really under control by drinking a glass of water about 1/2 hour after I eat. Washes down the stuff left in my esophagus. I also watch those sweets. Also I used to lie on the couch and read while I was snacking on something. I quit eating while lying down except crackers. Every time I over-indulge I suffer. (The doctor told me I had asthma and emphysema but I proved him wrong.) Guest guest
I hear ya Zig, I've had too many mistakes made by physicians to trust anyone blindly, I want to know why, what, when and where, I question it all, nicely if I can and I also suggest tests or meds to use... thank goodness he finally trusts me and goes along. *grin*. but wouldn't it be something if that bacteria is the root of many of the problems? *sigh* ... I too have Gerd, diagnosed with the scope, etc.. and thought a few times I was having a silent heart attack that's how bad the pain can be. I took one of the proton pump inhibitors (forget which one right now) for a few weeks and felt fine and never went back and havent had any spells or attacks for a long time and still eat how I always did *knock on wood* so fingers are crossed it stays that way.. (and I'm a terrible late night eater, I usually forget to during the day, *grin*) Bad girl!!! Although my gastro doctor says anyone over 50 is likely to have it since the 'flap' or muscle on the top of the stomach that 'should' close to prevent that acid back up, just weakens naturally with age. *groan* Can't wait to see what's next with this age thing, LOL Dee~
