Guest guest
" What is the most decadent thing you would do with a day off if you didn't have to play catch up on all the things you should be doing? And...no one would be wanting dinner made? " Are we assuming here that a baby-sitter was hired for that half day off? Well, let me think about the options.... I would go to the movies ALONE (no rated G movies allowed) and buy the $2.95 coke and the $5.00 popcorn and refuse to feel guilty about the price (and NOT fight over what kind of candy to buy). When I was done I would stop by Red Lobster for a Bahama Mama and dessert only (and there would be no whining about how long it would take until my food was brought to the table). Then I would go home and lie in bed groaning about why I ate so much and read a King novel and watch junk TV when my eyes got tired from reading. TV would NOT be the cartoon channel or Nick Jr. - It would have to consist of a steamy soap opera or an episode of Crossing Over. Or maybe I would go for a massage? Go swimming and actually be able to get in the pool and SWIM for a change (instead of having 2 children climb me like a tree because they don't want to get wet). Or MAYBE I'd call a friend on the phone and gossip, since I don't have time to spend with my friends much anymore. In reality, what I would probably end up doing would be the many chores around the house that have been neglected. I don't like reality. Guest guest
Funny you should ask. I had an unexpected day off on Friday. No tapes from my new docs, and I'd just finished off of my last unit from MTEC except the tapes. My wonderful guy also had an unexpected day off so.......(okay, get your minds out of the gutter!!!! LOL) We went " fantasy furniture shopping " . <G> We're in the very beginning stages of house hunting and have drooled through several models. We decided we really do need a basic bookcase for our bedroom for a surfeit of books, and thought it would be fun to just look at what's out there for, well, most of a whole houseful of furniture. We had a great day together, including some " wow " moments when we'd spot the same things at the same time. I swear we each have half of the same brain! It was a very fun day. Beats the heck out of laundry and dishes! J MTEC student, 1 shiny new account old dog, new tricks, where's the bone?
Guest guest
I am also assuming that the kids are with someone else for the day! I would probably go shopping at the mall for a while (since I would be able to look and not have to chase my kids) and go to Lowe's and check out some wall borders and paint colors for my house. Then I would take a nice LONG lunch (and not have to cut up anyone else's meal!). Then I would probably relax, do some cross stitch or stamping, watch TV, and then, if he was being a nice guy , my husband and I would go out to a movie because we've only been able to do that once or twice in the last year. I know, not very exciting. Pattie
Guest guest
Now, Now, sometimes for a day you have to have FUN! Of course, sometimes it is fun to actually accomplish something in terms of chores! Loved the link below. Guest guest
Pattie, this was very exciting. I think exciting is relative and no matter where we are at in our lives, some days we just need something different and a change and sometimes we just have to recharge. And we always want to do those things that we normally don't have time for. I suppose if we spent our days shopping at Lowe's then that's the last place we'd want to be! Especially those at home. We are all at home for one reason or another but we don't have the same changes that others do so it's good to recharge and we all come back refreshed to whatever it is we take care of all day long, besides our work. This reminds me, I really need to get those paints for my living room wall which I haven't had time to do Re: time off > I am also assuming that the kids are with someone else for the day! > > I would probably go shopping at the mall for a while (since I would be able to look and not have to chase my kids) and go to Lowe's and check out some wall borders and paint colors for my house. Guest guest
Oh sure, now I feel really selfish, I didn't include DH! Boy, it really has been a bad two weeks! Okay, next week I'll include him in my fantasy day off. Guest guest
This is true. Excitement is like beauty. It's in the eye of the beholder. An exciting day for me is one when I can actually understand all my dictators! ----- Original Message ----- Pattie, this was very exciting. I think exciting is relative <big snip>
Guest guest
Oh Yes! When my tapes are clear, I am the happiest camper in the world! Re: time off > This is true. Excitement is like beauty.
