Tramadol vs. hydrocodone

Debi,I sympathize w/your circumstances. There is tolerance, dependence and then

there's addiction, apparently this Dr. doesn't know the real differance. W/Xanax

and hydrocodone there comes tolerance and for those in dire need there comes

dependence but addiction comes only by means of abuse at least that has been my

experience and I have expienced addiction unfortunatly to my current demise. For

it is documented to my misfortune because they say once an addict allways an

addict. To me addictin is not only physical sickness but spiritual sickness as

well. Years ago I took 2mg. Xanax a day for over 2 yrs. Who's to blame for that

me or the Dr? When my Dr. @ the time passed away the one that took over my case

weened me off in a years time, the only way to do it in my limited opinion. I've

read extensive research on Tramadol and 400 mgs. is to be the max. for a 24hour

period due to risk of siezure. It takes 300mg. to somewhat relieve my moderate

pain, now I don't dare tell any Dr. that. Recently I had an iternalmed Dr. tell

me 200mg. Tramadol 24hr. is the new max. Drs. cotradict Drs. Naprosyn

complicates my IBS and gerd. so I take very little of it at least not on a daily

basis. I pray the LORD will bless your endeavour! And by the way I like your

acronyms ASAP & PUSH I'll remember to share them.May OUR LORD Bless YOU ! ! ! .

been taking it for so long. I fear withdrawal symptoms. So I may try to cut down

on it a little at a time and replace it with the tramadol for a while. I think

our bodies get use to a certain medicine after a while (no matter what it is)

and it just becomes less effective.Back in Aug. I had no choice but to go cold

turkey on my Vicodin and Xanax, because my dr. that I had at the time, decided

that I was addicted to the Vicodin (hydrocodone), since the dosage he had me on

wasn't working anymore and he said that since it is an opiate, he had me on as

high of a dosage as he could put me on. I tried to explain to him, that I wasn't

taking it to get high, just to make the pain tolerable and that I have a problem

with building up a tolerance to almost ALL meds of any type. But he said that I

just needed to suck it up and deal with the pain better, so he refused to refill

any more pain meds. Then by Sept. I was out of my meds and had to go cold turkey

and wait until the first of Oct. to see a new dr. at a new clinic. This one

isn't much better. He put me on a very low dose of Ultram...only 50 mg. twice a

day. I just found out that it is legal to take up to 400 mg a day, so I am going

to try to see this dr. this week and at least ask him to slowly up my dose and

start by increasing me to 200 mg a day. Also, I am going to ask him to up my

Naprosyn from 1000 mg a day to 2000 a day.Love and gentle hugs,DebiCO-owner of
