little cc /eyes impacts

I promised an update on the neuroopthalmologist experience ( an 8 hour new

patient eval yesterday ) ....and what acm insight the specialist could shed .

much of the time , was spent waiting , part of the teaching hospital mode .

...usually routine , first an opthal residents history and eval ...( to his

credit , the doctor looked at my HUGE chart , and unphased , made quick sense

of the acm and ms info ....his only hangup that my chart ended in nov of 1999

.....but ive been hospitalised there , and had many more tests since , with ms

reconfirmation done ect , none of that there ....go figure .

eye refractory evals done , then the neuroopthalmoligist briefly screened me

for a couple things , talking in quick criptic meds speak ....and i strugled

to make sense of his statements ...he said testing needed , ...

..... a 30 min dash for lunch ( COFFEEE , lol ) , and sunshine while my eyes

dialated

visual fields ,...then fancy gadget stuff with kewl stars , red lines , and

the like ....

more 3d screening >>( i failed miserably , ..gazzing at boxes with only 3

out of about 10 shimmering at all .....and couldnt see the butterfuly as

having any demensions ....yet to me , it seems 3d ....puzzled , i acnoledged

i dont know what 3d is to other folks ....only to me , tehehehe .

by 4 oclock i was exausted ....the darvocette was helping id taken hours

before ....residents taking lots of time to stare in with bright lights , had

worn weary ( ya gotta love em , when they gently mumer sorry , each time you

blink , G ! )

the upshot ....i see double , in two different ways . so ok , yes ...one eye

sees double on its own ( hmm , ill wait for the report to attach names to

this stuff ) .....and i see double of both together in a different way

.....geesh , no wonder reading anything has seemed a nightmare for awhile ,

lol ....

so , that makes it three of everything i constantly try to merge into one

focus right ??

hmm , lets forget those trails .....

the good news is , with correction , i see 20 /20 .....and he thinks the de

bth perception stuff , may improve with prisms added ....sending me for trial

glue on ones .

better yet ...he sees no reason from a vision perspective , that i should not

drive again ..., the nsg has said the same , ....yippee . ill give it more

thought first ....im still not sure i like the way i overract to other

vehicles ect .....but , its debth ,and motion that set off the misjudgement

stuff in me ....perhaps these glasses with help .

hmm , the technical stuff he discussed with the other doctors , included a

bit on acm impacts . this doc knows acm , and has a health respect for it

......, there wasnt need to educate him at all ( BIG GRINS ) ....instead , he

was most intrested in what sympoms were the most troublesom ....and remarked

with vigor , to the other docs , " i bet things got worse , when the

herniation increased . "

so , those on the west coast ...yet another good doc if eyes are a problem (G

) .

he said the skewed tilt my eyes add , is something you dont normally see ,

but can be anticipated or checked for with acm ...its also possible its ms

impacts ...., but terms flew by as they discussed that its not found by doing

a lot of other tests that screen for wierd stuff ...lol .

the second type of double vision im having is something to do with eye

convergance and muscle strenght....it gets worse with fatique , and i suspect

its ms affecting the muscles endurance to repetitive demands . ....i didnt

ask him the cause of this one , we just discussed that it happens .

i also get nystigmus when tired now ....my eyes jump from line to line , and

trying for speed reading , just mades it take on a disco flashing lights

effect , ....ack !

anyway ....he thinks ill read more easily , ....report to my local

opthalmologist will come in a month or so ....then im to see him , to have

the new glasses script done , and the followup started ect . )

ah yess ....you ol friends who made it through this saga ....he hated the

gucci geek glasses , (G ) .....he said i actually need little ol john lennon

glasses , with that prism in the center ...., whoohooo ...after any good

" freeze dried hippies heart " this man is !

so ...when that report comes , ill let ya know what this eye thing is called

..
