Guest guest
I am trying to scope out my week. Work a full time job M-F and am planning on allowing 10-12 hours per week max to work at home doing medical transcription while finishing out the balance of this semester in school. I want to be fair but don't want to get coo coo trying to work as many hours as possible. Keeping focused on that 10-12. Is that really enough time for an employer to get from me starting out? I want to work Friday nights and all day Sat. only on the medical transcription to start. Thanks in advance for your comments and advice. Guest guest
I think it depends on what account you can find and what kind of TAT they want. Nationals I think require at least 20 hours for PT. When I started out, I worked only a few hours a week, but it was a very small local account who had tapes ready on Fridays, with a few stat reports during the week but only occasionally. On those, the work amount greatly varied, so some weeks I had one or two tapes, and another week I had six. I had a three-month old when I started and I mostly did the work for the experience, so that was plenty for me at the time. And a little extra income didn't hurt.
