Guest guest Posted February 1, 2001 Report Share Posted February 1, 2001 when first diagnosed w/chiari.. my doctor immediately looked up something called Arnold Chiari Syndrome.. which involves the pituitary gland. I know nothing about this.. except for that. I will look on the net for more info concerning this and pass it along. My youngest child is now 12 1/2 yrs old but I still have a small amount of milk all the time. I have hypothyroid ( I have been told it is actually pituitary problem though but it is treated the same) and the dosages keep needing to be changed. Seems to be in a constant state of flux. I had a hysterectomy 12 yrs ago as well. No doctor has been able to tell my why this is happening so I just live with it. Kathi /Port Orchard, Washington adamsk60@... I had breast milk from the birth of our first until I had a breast reduction done 11 years later. I was told that it was from to much activity on my husbands part. Eleanor New to the group Hi, I am new to the group and just wanted to say hi. I suffered a heart attack last year and renal failure this year and now it seems that everywhere I go people ask me if I am diabetic? Is there a correlation here that I am missing? I am a freelance writer and operate a prescription assistance service so I know just enough to be dangerous but I can't see what the tie in is here. Any ideas? And most of the people on kidney dialysis are there because of diabetic complications. If you've had kidney failure, then you're probably on dialysis. I spent over a week in the hospital when it occurred and then was on unbelievably expensive antibitoitcs for quite some time. I sustained damage to about 1/4 of one of my kidneys but with my last tests earlier this month they said it had healed itelf and there was no longer any damage. My fiance just lost his father due to complications from diabetes, and he was in the hopsital with renal failure the same week I was and was not diagnosed with the diabetes until a couple months later. So it has us all a little concerned. They have done the proper tests and say I am all clear but still... I just thought I'd ask people who would know. Well, good for you. I'm glad you got better. Complete kidney failure and going on dialysis is not a good thing. The failure to diagnose diabetes in your fiance's father for two months seems terribly careless to me. it's an obvious thing to consider when encountering kidney disease. It would certainly interfere with the healing process. If your doctors have already tested you and you're not diabetic, then good for you. The blood test for diabetes is quite simple, and you can even purchase inexpensive home glucose meters at your local drugstore if you're ever curious and don't want to bother your doctor. The cheapest is about $9.00 at Wal-Mart. Just for your information, symptoms of untreated diabetes would be drinking more fluids that most people, frequent urination during the day, and even waking several times during the night to urinate. Sometimes changes in your vision or losing weight without trying, despite eating all you want. Or sometimes tingling or numb patches in your feet or hands. You're quite welcome in this group. Like you I am on too many meds but still can get the fibro ones. Most my meds are for other problems. My fibro meds are amitriptyline, soma and ultram.
