I would say at least 90-120 minutes.

There is no official answer. Always remember that these are sports nutrition

products. They are developed for a different clientele than us. And the folks

they are developed for have really highly revved metabolisms, so they're going

to process 'em way faster than we do.

Firstly, we weren't processing at any kind of normal rate to start with (pre-op)

and now, we barely process AT ALL. And a bar is a food protein, for which you

need a stomach and hunk of intestine. So, at best, figure 50% absorption in a

bar. Figure higher in the predigested liquids.

There IS no exact time period or any studies on same by the mfrs. (I'm working

on it!) I usually break mine apart by 2 hours, but that's just a guess.

Thanks,

Consider the bars the same as food. It takes about 2-4 hours for the stomach

to empty and about 2+ hours for the food to process through the small

intestine and could stay in the large intesitne/colon for up to 24 hours. If

you take the predigested protein powder/liquid supps the will digest faster.

very good. I like the readers digest version, but yours will stick longer

because you explained why.

Yep, especially in our systems; small pouch means more rapid emptying.

A normal stomach empties in 2- 4 hours, the bigger the stomach the longer the

empty time. A post op of my surgeon had the pouch empty time test and her

full to empty time was 25 minutes. My surgeon was doing 30cc pouches at the

time. He now does 15cc, so less may be faster.

You don't process completely anything that goes completely through your

system within an hour. I said to space protein out by 90-120 minutes, so

that the next " dose " would be out of the way by the time you added more. -

Kind of like a moving processing belt. - both on the belt, but at different

places, so they don't interfere. It does take up to 24 hours from mouth to

anus, but you can have stuff in different places at different time, if you

get my idea.

Yes, depending on the type of food. Fatty foods tend to have slower gastric

emptying.

Well, I'm not , but I think you need to remember that keeping in mind

you process protein bars the same as food, with our malabsorption, we are NOT

getting ALL that protein either. I was told that in protein drink, we get

ALL right away.
