There is a presciption form of 2% butaconazole calledGynazole 1, but my insurance company won't cover it,because they claim that available over-the-counterdrugs like Monistat are equivalent." ============================== Just for information here are some generic & brand name of various yeast meds, (doubt it's all of them but the major ones and no idea if they're still available but might be with a different name?) I see Mycelex listed as Clotrimazole but you mentioned Mycelex-3 as being butoconazole? (maybe it's the 3 that makes the difference?) No wonder druggists & doctors get confused, LOL I swear by the Vagistat 1 (tioconizole), the one time treatment, it's always worked for me but WHEW the burning irritation for that one day.. *Ouch* but the yeast would be gone, we really are all so different. I wish I knew what else other than Boric acid since it burns you so, or that they listed them in the PDR as to types or benefits for..., but so far no luck. Hope these help a bit for what it's worth. Dee~ Vaginal medications for vaginal yeast infections Examples: Generic & brand names miconazole (Monistat, Monistat-Derm) clotrimazole (Gyne-Lotrimin, Mycelex) butoconazole (Femstat) (Gynazole) tioconazole (Vagistat, Vagistat 1) terconazole (Terazol) clotrimazole/betamethasone dipropionate (Lotrisone) nystatin/triamcinolone acetonide (Mycolog-II) Other vaginal medications are available in combination with steroid creams for itching or inflammation. These are not usually needed to treat a vaginal yeast infection and need to be prescribed by a health professional. clotrimazole/betamethasone dipropionate (Lotrisone)
