Guest guest
Aside from 'fast food' places, if you explain to your server that you are diabetic they will generally be happy to accomodate you, e.g. by substituting steamed broccoli or cauliflower for the baked potatoes. Re: Re: Re Low Carb Diets Are there any other restaurants that offer options for a diabetic besides Subway? I was recently diagnosed with the disease and I am looking for the appropriate meal plan. Guest guest
I've wondered why with all the complaints against fast food, they don't simply come up with a carrot/broccoli/cauliflower carton to sub for fries. They could give an upcharge and it would be a much healthier choice. I worked in an Applebee's for six yrs and a big bag of veggies isn't *that* much more expensive than fries, esp when you could charge to replace the cost. The prep time wouldn't be more, either, considering you have to cook the fries, drain the fries, salt the fries, shovel the fries. Being in the foode service industry as my wife and I are IMHO it is due to demand. As Burger King is finding that the fad of a Whopper wrapped in lettuce isn't in demand as much as they had thought. At least in this area. The cost of adding another item also limits it's distribution as well as finding the space to implement it at each restaurant. In addition the local bakeries are finding that more people are just asking about " low carb " breads and such than are actually buying them. Thus changing production lines or adding products is neither cost effective nor profitable enough to do so.

I had it at Ruby Tuesday's a few weeks ago with one of their low carb entree's, and I was pleasantly suprised since I don't care for cauliflower when it's served whole, gail
