Hi

I too can sometimes feel the same thing. My heart is

beating faster than it should do, even if I just sit

and read. I don't think my heart skips beats though,

but I am not sure. I have a weird " pressure " on the

chest sometimes. It hurts a little, but mostly it

feels like there is an invisible stone or something

pressing down the chest and I must take deep breaths

when that happens. I suppose it has to do with

anxiety, as you said.

Hi and Debra,

I have had fun with my heart since I was a teen. I don't know if any of it has

to do with fibro. I was fun when I was pregnant because it was causing me to

faint all over the place. My mom had the problem when she was pregnant with me

but not my sisters or brother. Maybe someday we will figure it out.

Have you told your doc about this? Have you been checked out for

heart problems?

Women often manifest heart problems differently than men. My sister

had an MI (heart attack) from an infection when she was 45. That was

back in 1995, before there was widespread realization about how

differently women experience heart pain than men. Her primary

sensation was not pain, but a feeling of pressure, as if a toddler

were standing on her sternum.

Better safe than sorry.

I have that. One time it got so bad that I was even having chest pains, so

my ex took me to the ER at the Navy Hospital and after they first treated me

as though I was suffering a heart attack, then they ran tests and they drew

the conclusion that fibro was mimicking the heart attack. I was like, that's

just great! Now how am I going to know when it is the real thing?????????

Hi, I have also had the irregular heartbeats and even chest pains from

time to time but they say my heart is good. So now I know we can get

the same symptoms as a real heart attack. At least I can usually

figure it is the fibro now. I'm not sure but I would think a real

heart attack would be more intense. For me anyways. I know how I feel

when having the irregular heart beats or pains, but everyone

experiences things differently. I hope you are feeling better now. God

Bless You All.

I'm hopping on the " ME TOO " wagon. I've experienced periodic heartbeat

irregularities since I was in my 20's. Back then, as now, it was more

pronounced during times I was emotionally stressed out. But, it can happen

anytime. I also have sensations as if my heart were convulsing or doing

somersaults in my chest. Sometimes I lose my breath a little when this

happens. I've often wondered what percentage of us have MVP or mitral valve

prolapse? I wonder if FMS causes MVP or vice versa - the symptoms of MVP

are SO similar.

Sounds like it might be inner ears. They can through your balance off. Sinus

congestion can cause that. It used to happen to me alot.

I didn't have an irregular heartbeat, but I did get an EKG once cause I felt

like my heart was racing, and they told me my heart was " running away with

itself " Anyone else experience that?

Do you take sudafed when your sinuses are bothering you? My PCP told me that

sudafed can cause your blood pressure to rise, it may have some affect on your

heart too, who knows. :)

When I do use Sudafed I only take one. Two is too strong for me. I can't use

Allegra-D because the " D " is too strong. So it doesn't bother my blood pressure

because I take so little. But I have gotten " flutters " from prednisone.

Fortunately, I don't take it very often.

I have an irregular heartbeat problem also. I am on Lopressor to control it and

if I remember to take the med. I don't have a problem. I also have panic attacks

and those cause my heart to race even with the Lopressor, I take Xanax if that

happens.

I have experienced anxiety attacks that seem to make my heart race, and then I

become more anxious, so it just gets worse. I've gone a couple different times

to the ER, and my heart is fine. It's scary, like if we cry " wolf " too many

times, they won't believe us when it's the real thing.
