JR, at the risk of being a 'pollyanna' my own spascisty went away on its

own - which is a really wierd thing - but it did. My 'brand' of CMT has

really wierd oddities to it, hard to explain, baffles Drs. etc. I wonder

if there is an 'idiosyncratic CMT neuropathy? Do you not like to take

medications or do you find alternatives to living with the spascity? ~

Hi G, I would rather not take meds. I just try to get by and so far have

done ok, however I do have this ongoing problem. I gusee I wait and see what

happens. How long did you have to live with your spascisty? Did it go away

suddenly? or perhaps it was a gradual thing? jr

I wonder what therapy can do for that?? Keep us posted. Many people with

CMT have this problem. I eat slow and take smaller bites. That helps me. I

seem to always be in a hurry so I have to remind myself not to eat fast.

Hi Liz here...I have always had trouble swallowing...I rarely eat steak

because I've almost killed myself choking. It's not worth it. I've even

talked myself into hating steak so I don't get jealous when I see other

people with a fat juicy one.LOL.

Hi Group,

With regards to asymetric weakened neck muscles, I have a problem with the

left scalene which supports the neck from the side. This along with some

cervical arthritis left over from an old whiplash injury got to be very

tender and bothersome. A Physiatrist gave me some neck toning exercises some

years ago which I do daily and have found them to be of great help. If

anybody is interested I can send a copy or discribe them. EdM

Hi Group,

Well again, do I ever ! Everyday I have episodes of very difficult

swallowing. Cold applesauce is almoet a slamdunk in that department. After

much doctorial review and an expensive endoscopy recently, there is no

explanation other than it's a CMT thing. It's hard to ignore it because of

the possibility of a lesion being present. Spasm, hernia, acid reflux, and

lack of muscle response are all additional possibilities most of which can

be ruled outwith endoscopy examination. Just another stirer in the muddy

waters of Dx, I'm afraid. - EdM
