I've spent some time with folks in the mail order business. They

tell me that quite often someone who objects to getting mail from

them will tape the reply-postage paid envelope to a brick and mail

it back. Postage is around $10. Not trying to give you any ideas or

anything.....

Eunice,

I would never recommend this with mail that is relevant, sent to you

based on something you requested or were very carefully selected to

receive. It only tends to happen when mailers send out 'pure junk'.

I have no problem putting refused mail in our box, just did it recently.

Unfortunately you can't put refused mail back into your mailbox for

return. It has to be taken to a public mailbox or post office. Found

that out from the local postmaster.

I don't have a problem with refusing mail and placing it in my

mailbox. They always take it.

Well, around here, Seattle, I complained to the post office after it sat

in the outgoing mail for a week. That is what I was told. I was also

told that ofttimes " return to sender " isn't returned. It is tossed out

instead. That, I would have thought would be ileagal, since they aren't

delivering it back, but that's what I got from the local postmaster.

Besides, if your neighbors have noticed that you don't go to work,

they've probably already figured out that you're on some sort of

disability

Actually the job I had before, I was able to work from home pretty often, so

the neighbors didn't think anything of my car being in the driveway all day.

So I guess it could really go either way....

I have never had a problem with refusing mail for mailman

pickup either. I have lived in the city and country.
