It is a real shame. I don't think they want to cure diabetes, just treat it, which as we know leads to so many side effects, that kill you, maybe just not as fast. I have waited at least two years for just one more drug that maybe I could take, but I don't even see anything coming out. Well, there's the " glitazones, " Amaryl, Glucovance (really just a recombining of a sulfonylurea and glucophage). But I think you said you were on a sulfonylurea for nine years, and so odds are that your pancreas is fried and you'll have to rely on injected insulin from now on. I call long-term sulfonylurea (e.g., Glucotrol) users " induced type 1's. " The sooner they make the switch to complete reliance on injected insulin, the better quality of life they're likely to have, because they will still be able to use some remaining beta cells.
