Things like onions and tomatoes have always given me trouble in the past and these recipes are chock full of both. Andy, My grandmother lost her colon to diverticulitis, so you may imagine that I'm quite grateful to have found SCD! Not all SCD recipes are chock full of tomatoes and onions -- just ask Kim Mumbower, who has all manner of issues. She does a very, very plain SCD and does well on it. First of all, you don't have to start off with any of that -- you can even make the opening chicken soup without onions if you choose. Then, you add foods gradually. If one gives you issues, well, just don't eat that again for a few months. Many people find that after some months of healing, they can tolerate foods which once would have given them difficulties. Carrots and I never got along pre-SCD. I left carrots out of my intro diet, didn't touch them for around 6 months. Now I eat carrots without too many complaints. (But I have a story about carrots and ch-c-l-t- that might make people laugh.) I remember reading posts from folks with pouches who found that SCD was very beneficial to pouchitis and all those other not-so-fun occurences. In addition, it's a very healthy diet. I'd say... give it a go. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
