When I was younger and wanted only to avoid feeling the pain in my body, I had probably little body awareness, I avoided listening to music because that reminded me of having a body, stopped meditating, and talked quickly - something that in my experience correlates with those who ignore body and intuition. Then I slowly turned around and decided that feeling my pain was the only way of coping with it. Since then I talk much more slowly, listen to my internal intuition more often, and pay much more attention to the body - as Buddhists say a good monk must! It made for quite a personality change though, over time. I suspect EDS means that you either have much more OR much less body awareness than most people - there's no middle ground for us. PS - I've written a bit about the emotional connections to various kinds of body awareness, and think that emotional depth (the opposite of sentimentality, let's say) requires being very much aware of very subtle body feelings. EDS has eventually forced me to be very aware of the nuances of my body feelings, but there was a long period when I was younger when the reverse was true - I didn't want any awareness of body sensations at all, thank you very much.
