Guest guest
I've been having problems for a year with my ISP, so I've been reading email & not posting. Since my pain clinic fired me in March, I've been seeing a Dr. who doesn't accept insurance, & his office visits are $125 (more if he does blood work or tox screens). People ask, with horror, why I pay so much to see a doctor, & I tell them this is the only pain clinic I've been able to find in Nashville. The doctors there are both great, and they've been more help to me than any of the others I've seen in the past. I went to a Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert Nov. 10, which was great, but it really threw my sleep cycle off. I ended up the next day nodding off while on a heating pad & wound up with a 3rd degree burn on the back of my hip. That thing is still sore & has a nasty thick scab over it, but it IS healing--it's about 3/4 the size it was a month ago. But when I think of people who have huge burns, all over their bodies, I shudder to think of the pain THEY must be in. Along with fibro I've also got degenerative arthritis, & lately my hips & knees have been very painful, especially on the left side. Yesterday I woke up in such pain I laid there sobbing until my morphine kicked in. I've never experienced this degree of pain in my knees before, & couldn't even touch my left one. If this is arthritis, can I please give it away? My fibro seems to be holding to a manageable level (though, I take MS- Contin every day, so how would I know?), though maybe the pain in my knees the past few days has been a particularly bad fibro flare. My neighbor across the street has fibro, BiPolar Disorder, degen arthritis, & spinal problems, same as me. We've become pretty close over the last few months, and it's really great to have a person so close by that has the same problems. We cry on each others shoulders a lot, as well as share coffee & 's, lol! She's on Oxy instead of MS-Contin, & gave me one of those one night when my back went into a spasm & I ended up on the floor. I was surprised; the OxyContin really seems to work a lot better than the morphine. I don't know if I should mention this to my doctor or leave well-enough alone. He might refuse to treat me at all if I start asking for stronger meds. Well, I wish all of you Happy Holidays (and Merry Christmas!!!), and a pain-free one at that. Gentle hugs to all, cyn
